***I see people are having issues signing up. I did too as I already have a virgin mobile phone number nad login. If you login and go into ordering under hte virgin mobile website menu you can check the progress, then ring them to push it through manually. Or if you have another email address I presume you could make a new virgin mobile login***

Cheapest 4G contract I could find once combined with a 25% "mates rates" mobile discount, but still better than the rest even without it. The discount is available from Virgin Media employees for their friends/family.

Only negative is the 12 months not rolling monthly.

Virgin - 1000 minutes - 1GB Data - Unlimited texts - £4 per month
ID mobile - 500 mins - 500MB data - 5000 texts - £3.99 per month
Plus net - 500 mins - 500MB data - 5000 texts - £4 per month

Why choose Virgin Media?
Over 99% 4G coverage
Virgin Media service uses EE's nationwide mobile phone network. So you get over 99% coverage.

Free messaging on WhatsApp, Twitter and Facebook Messenger
Chat, text, share photos and more without dipping into your data allowance. Free messaging is standard for all Virgin Media pay monthly plans.

Data Rollover as standard
Keep any unused data from one month to the next with all pay monthly Virgin Media SIMs.

I watch no more video on my phone when out and about than I did in 2006 on my MDA Vario. 300MB does me fine. Hot deal.
I came across this earlier when I was looking for a sim only deal with 2gb+ data - its a great price
Great Deal, Hot
Great price OP shame on contract
I'm currently paying virgin £5 for 300 minutes and 600 mb, is it possible to switch to this?

Ask them?
I can't get any of the links to work
Virgin media are rising their prices this November by 10% for existing customers. Maybe they will do the same for mobile phones !!!
I'm on 4g, 2500mins, unlimited text + 2gb for £6 this was not a retention deal ... Just spoke to a nice man for best deal and got this. Happy days😁
I spoke to them 3 days ago - could not match Plusnet's £4 a month deal. Got the PAC and the Plusnet SIM which is going through tomorrow. Now this. Hopeless.

But why would you want to stick yourself into a 12 month deal anyway there are many offers out there you might pay a couple if quid more but are free to change whenever you need to.

Virgin customer service us terrible, they gave me a discount when I complained about the price increase, then increase the price when they said they wouldn't. CS then told me there was nothing they could do and would put me through to the department for the PAC where the girl didn't even acknowledge me, manager then told me OFCOM were forcing all companies to scrap 39 day deals which is just a lie.

Stay with plusnet us bet you won't regret it.

A family member is paying £5 for the exact same deal as yours .
This is perfect for my Aunty. So she's just called to take it out. Only to be told they don't match uSwitch deals. Despite their own page showing you can call it continue online.

She wont put her bank details in online so have advised her to go for the plus net deal for £4 instead. Half the minutes but no 12 month contract and UK based customer service.
Does anyone know how long this deal is on for as I need a new contract from October?
R19924 h, 8 m agoTbh so many WiFi spots, 1gb is enough for me!

Its only enough because you run out and go looking for WIFI; if you have a mobile phone with a potato processor, horrendous screen, rubbish low resolution camera, never want to send files attachments in emails or have no friends to send your high resolution image, videos, files and you like living in the stone ages and being totally disconnected from society yeah get 1GB a month, providing you can still open that squeaky air tight wallet. :))

This will be quite sufficient for most people. If all you use your phone for is browsing the net then you'll never use 1gb. If you insist on consuming copious amounts of media while on the move then obviously you'll need more, but your usage isn't the same as everyone else out there.
I can manage on 1gb a month just fine. I use Spotify Premium, Netflix and Here Maps/Mapsme and can easily download what I need when I'm on wifi. Rocket science it isn't. The Stone Age (singular, there weren't multiple) it isn't. While I was in India I had up to 3gb of data a day with the sim I had out there. Did I need it? No? Did I max it out? No. Now that I'm back in the UK do I feel the need to have a huge data plan? No.

Yeah if you never use your phone for internet 1GB is just fine and dandy especially if your in your house all the time nd using WIFI. Try watching a one 1hr high quality show at the beginning of your data allowance and see how that pans out.

If your happy to watch low quality images on netflix and low quality sound when streaming music then i guess its fine, but personally i can't stand that. Its 2017 man, that's not for me..

I don't see the logic in paying £9.99 a month for the premium Spotify, plus the cost of Netflix and then scrimping on data to me that makes no sense but that's just my opinion.

Netflix Data Usage (Official)
  • Low Quality - Watch about 4 hours per GB of data.
  • Medium Quality - Watch about 2 hours per GB of data.
  • High Quality - Watch about 1 hour per GB of data.
  • Unlimited - Recommended only if you have an unlimited data plan. This setting will stream at the highest possible quality for your device and the content you are viewing. This may use 1 GB per 20 minutes or more depending on your device and network speeds.
Why would I have to use low quality on Netflix and Spotify? Who said I pay for or Spotify? You're doing a lot of presuming.

Number 1: I have a galaxy note 4. Pretty good phone, got it on launch day of the actual handset.
Number 2: pretty damn good handset if you ask me and probably anyone else who owns it, goods specs, you should look it up. Camera is 16mp if I remember right.
Number 3: I tend to send videos and pics over WhatsApp etc. Pretty handy apps, check em out BTW.
Number 4: working in city centre means there's pretty much wifi every 3 minutes between my work locations.
Number 5: not having data, cut off from society..last time I checked, data doesn't really impact whether youre able to contact the outside world which, BTW unlike you, I don't have to hide behind my phone screen to make friends etc and also FYI your attitude that you are portraying here, I doubt you're that successful sat behind that phone/tablet/computer screen using up your millions of data gb lmao enjoy being a wee troll!

Good choice of phone - me too! Mine is running the stock firmware but heavily modded, though I was looking at one of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat Custom ROM's - I guess that means I must be in the dark ages?

I think you are the one disconnected from society if you think the majority of people spend their lives consuming videos on mobile devices.

not everyone wants to sit on their phone streaming Netflix or music, there is definitely a generational gap on that one, some people just use their phone differently, if 1GB is good for you great, if not great but why moan about what others uses if beyond me. the biggest issue with this is the 12 months deal, who knows what is coming soon and the person using 1GB today might not be using that much in a few months time and with 30 day deals out there close to this, don't sign your year away.
It's a £48 1 year mobile contract no doubt many of which we've all used before. Let's not get carried away - no one's signing up to the army or for a Mars mission.

money is money at the end of the day, yes £48 might not be a lot but I wouldnt be happily giving it to Virgin for a service I wont use if I was moving elsewhere.

I can't see £4 being beaten for more data on a reputable network for a while. If you're down at £4 contracts you're hardly a high user anyway. Taking the extra data, sitting tight for a year and seeing what's available then will work for many.

pay £6 for 2GB data, no rolling contract so it can change with your needs, they had a 1.5GB for a fiver a couple of weeks ago and their deals change all of the time. Yes if you want to sign up to 12months this is a good deal but there are other deals around this price with more data, and more flexibility, the market is so competitive on 30 day deals at the moment, and a month or so ago Virgin were happy to offer them but now trying to force the 12 month deals as they say Ofcom are forcing them to which is totally incorrect.

Its a real shame they don't do inclusive calls to 0870 numbers anymore. They used to be inclusive on old 3G contracts and some people I know still have them.
Decided to just take it out for my aunty but keep getting this why I try to check out. Anyone know how I can get around it?

EDIT. Give up, called customer service who claimed it was system error. I said it was on uswitch and she said to contact them to complete the checkout. Basiclly they've got zero idea.

Why would you need to call 0870 numbers? Most companies have now changed their numbers to 03 so it is included in your plan. Use saynoto0870 to find alternative numbers or go onto the companies website.
Great deal and it suits my needs perfectly. Yes, it's a 12 month contract... but it's £4! Bargain. I was paying double that for near enough the same deal but 2GB data before it went up a couple of weeks ago. Let's not forget, data rollover too....
Looks like it's been pulled, 2 phone reps stated it's a error, can't complete checkout online either, ah well

We managed just fine for years without mobile phones - in fact, we managed just fine when we had to use the phone at the end of the street or down at the post office.

We managed just fine when we only had one television channel on our wooden television set - in fact, we managed just fine when we never had a television set.

We managed to go outside and live our lives, we got on with our work/studies, we visited friends and families, we enjoyed the journeys, the scenery - we actually talked face to face, we had meals together, we enjoyed the camaraderie - we enjoyed our 'stoneage' lives.

Nowadays kids are glued to screens and they think they're living.

It may still be active on uswitch but you can't checkout, at the final stage on the VM website it comes back with a card error after entering your details, tried multiple times with different cards, also been stated that VM are saying this is deal is a system error, so makes sense.
