With virgin media you get Free TV package (medium) when you sign up to a 12 month land line contract at £11 per month.

But here is the interesting bit - quidco is now paying out £120 cashback making this just £12 for the whole year or £1 per month!

might not pay as could be that you have to take all 3.

quidco states ambiguously:-

£120 for all cable package / bundles (cable tv, cable broadband, cable phone)

Mine has just tracked - and I only took the phone and the free tv.

It says £120 for all packages - the phone and the tv is a package

awesome deal if quidco is tracking

tracking doesnt mean anything. its when they come to validate that they may refuse.

Just be warned that they may refuse payout.

I cant see why they would as I have taken out a virgin media package and it says on quidco
"£120 for all cable package / bundles"

Be warned, if you don't get quidco rebate, you will have a very expensive phone service (compared to BT) for the duration of your contract! Too risky, imo. Won't vote for this reason.

The "free" TV service you get is basically Freeview.

but it does state "(cable tv, cable broadband, cable phone)" so VM could argue you didnt take out all 3.

Have to agree. I have VM and find it cheaper using my PAYG mobile than using their landline! :w00t:

They are giving examples of what is in the packages that is why they are in brackets. I have asked the question on quidco and will report back.

Not necessarily. You can, as I have done, plug in OneTel "modules" into the phone points and pay them (carphone warehouse?) instead for your calls. Your only payment to Virgin Media would be for line rental, ie £11.00 pm.

The broadcast channels you get are the same as freeview but you also get free on demand stuff like iplayer and a lot of the last weeks tv. Plus some pay per view stuff like films and music videos.

If you can do that and used cheap third party services (0844 numbers for 0.5ppm) than you have indeed a good deal.

I have read in the PO T&C that they can cancel your service if you only use third party providers. Wonder if it's the same with VM? Imagine, you get the £120 rebate and they then cancel your service. That would be the best deal

VM have indeed cancelled the main override providers. I might give the old onetel box a go though.

I got mine last year with a similar offer. Looking to cancel with them putting up my broadband cost!

Anybody know if how much their cheapest broadband is?

Have just moved in to a new house and it has a virgin box on the wall.
Guess I would need a telephone line as well?

It would be £25 per month for broadband, phone line and tv

Still can't get the Virgin TV at our house according to CS. Might have gone for this otherwise as I already get Broadband with them.

Seems odd though as we used to have cable TV years ago.

no you can have internet from virgin without a phone line. If you take their TV service though they make you have a phone for some reason.

yes it does

£14 + £11 = £25. I rang up and they reduced to £18 as they always have done.

Sorry this isn't true - I've used 18185 for ages with VM and save a heap
2p to Australia
1/2p daytime calls
Cheap 0845 0870 etc etc
Low mobile calls

there is a £30 installation fee if you only take phone line. it's free installation plus £20 when you take 3 services. however you will not be able to negotiate price on your original package in first year.

Currently I have broadband with them and 3 times called and argued why am I only getting the £25 a month deal for all 3 if I upgrade since I have been with them for 4-5 years on their broadband service. Anything that I can do about this as I want all 3 services? [have called customer service and retentions line].

Or can I upgrade online and get quidco even though I have the broadband already?

Thanks.....

:x i have tryed it as well 4 times to get a better deal (and they really couldnt care ) the price is the price on the web ect no cheaper

it really does depend on the mood of who you speak with to be honest... around 4-6 weeks ago I rang up and moaned that they were offering free wireless routers to new customers but because i had been with them 18 months i still had the old wired modem but the woman wouldn't budge or offer anything for free - i had to pay £40 if i wanted a wireless router...

then earlier this week i saw on their website the 10mb B/band, XL TV & phone bundle for £35 plus V+ service etc so i called them back... spoke with someone who said the offer is actually £11+ 35 - which is more than i am currently paying... but she offered a free wireless router and upgrade to V+ without increasing my monthly subscription....

so i am now paying less than £40 (i.e. less then new customers) and getting:

1. 10MB b/band
2. XL TV
3. V+
4. phone line rental (just never use the phone)

having XL TV means free on demand stuff even in HD which is great....

hurry though - the deal on the website closes on Sunday!

Doesn't it seem odd than in the middle of a recession a communications firm as big as Virgin still can't communicate their price structure to customers (and potential customers) clearly so as to avoid all this confusion. BT are just as bad at this so I am not bashing Virgin but when I buy a rail ticket from Great Eastern, I don't have to pay Railtrack separately.
Oh for the days when the price-tag told you the actual cost of something.

Ordered TV/Internet/Phone bundle last week for installaion next week. Quidco was only £65 then. Has tracked ok. Would it be safe to cancel and re-order for the £120?

i went for this back in feb, quidco tracked but virgin cocked up my order, they put me on 18 month contract instead of 12, so i had to call. which is probably what caused my quidco to be declined!

i will be moving to sky once my contract is up

Strange I signed up yesterday and my quidco tracked at £65, but there is no £65 option?. I got phone, broadband and TV. Should I email quidco, or will it just sort itself out.

what I meant was that VM have blocked direct dial numbers using 18185 etc so now you have to do the following :-

Non-BT and mobile* customers can access this service by dialling 0808 1 703 703 -wait for voiceprompt- followed by the complete follow-on telephone number.

For me, thats just too much hassle as I only spend about £3 a month on calls anyway. I normally use the phone using direct dial numbers (e.g #1 = parents) for frequent numbers so I'd have to write them on paper and do the above then dial in the number.

My mobile is cheaper than 18185 when calling other mobiles. I appreciate now that it can be done.

This is what i did, but now i have 2x £65 tracked and verified?!?!?!

I have emailed Quidco

Well I'm taking out a 3-way (woo!) package anyway, so rep and heat as I would have missed it. Cheers.

Tried bargaining on price but she wouldn't have it. Maybe just because I'm crap at it - should have let the lady have a go.

This is what I'm afraid of - canceling, reordering then getting the same/nothing but losing the install slot. Who knows, maybe they will pay the £65s as £120s anyway..
