Great deal on the excellent Virgin Trains. My tip is always go for weekday evening services if possible as you get lots of free booze from a wide selection, a wrap/sandwich + other food + can ask for as much as you want. You also get use of the lounges if you go from a station with them, lots of nice free food+drink, I got chillli+lime popcorn the other day. Book by 18 November for travel 7 December 2013 – 19 January 2014. Sadly railcard discounts don't apply.

If I buy a ticket from Birmingham, can I get on the train in Nuneaton instead?

You can officially buy Nuneaton to London at that link, ahh but it £23.50 well it's your risk if you want to "travel short" by buying Brum to London although do any of those stop at Nuneaton anyway? Make sure the one you buy does.

for what journey? you may have to play around with dates/times, obviously these tickets are for quieter trains.

Virgin are so snide they make sure you pay a lot more to come back

Think People realise it cost 3x more too get back, even some airlines do this just too get the dosh off you read full details before you buy tickets or you might have a shock to get home again

Just book the return leg separately.

Haven't sat in first class in long journey before. I have only had someone come ask me to choose from tea/coffee and biscuits in short journeys. So I am curious as to the OP's tip on travelling on a weekday evening service. Let's say I take the 6pm service from Manchester to London, they will come by with a bigger cart filed with booze, sandwiches, food and you can ask for as much as you want?

£56 weekend 1st class Preston to Birmingham return BARGAIN!!! Cheers OP

You don't get alcohol at the week end and it's not an 'endless' supply of drinks to get you wasted.most services the drinks will come through twice.Good deals on tickets tho.

Read the terms and conditions as it used to be on a weekend no alcohol was included. And also you don't get loads of booze on the trains as the trolleys tend to go down two to three times. Its only wide seats and phone charging sockets at the tables you defo get.

Slash you don't get unlimited Drinks etc you will get food, tea, coffee and usually 2 soft or alcoholic drinks.Good prices on tickets tho.Alcohol isn't served in 1st at weekends also.

Used in the week and it was great, bacon baps, drinks, etc, lovely. Used on a weekend and it was awful! Anyone was able to sit in first, no one checked tickets, which wouldnt have bothered me except they were smashing up the china pots and swinging from the luggage rails and no one was bothered. Also had to go hunting for food and drink and ended up with crisps and a can. Wouldnt use again on a weekend but would recommend for in the week. Totally different experience - for me anyway!

I wouldn't bother to be honest, the standard fare to Manchester from London is as low as £12.50 one way if booked a few weeks in advance. I would be tempted for this deal just to try first class for once in my life, but really its only a two hour journey, and standard is really nice anyway.

Can't really see them letting you get smashed on the train either, haha

Hotted anyway, worth posting.

Virgin trains is so bad.
£23.50(this is the normal price) if i buy a Birmingham to London for the day after next.
so i book a week in advance to get 5 Pounds saving???

And the worst is if i fall in the period metioned above i still get that crappy weekend first class service where there is no real offer of first class.. Virgin Trains everybody, TAKE A BOW YOU BEAUTY
