Virgin "unlimited" everything SIM ONLY 30 day £15 @ omio + 99p postage

This looks like a good deal, an alternative to the 3 one plan perhaps?

-Virgin run on the EE network
-There is a fair use policy of 3.5GB on data. Once exceeded speeds are capped to 384kbps
-Tethering is not allowed. However, Virgin do not strictly enforce this policy. But they do reserve the right to cut you off at any time if you do tether and this has happened to some customers before.
-Existing customers may be able to get this plan cheaper
- This may have been posted before
- This may be old news to some who dont post any deals

Difference with the Three One plan is that the unlimited data can be used for tethering where the Virgin plan is limited to handset only. Still a great deal though.

Thanks Steamy (lol your user name made me chuckle!)

I am debating it for the HTC 8x due tomorrow from ebay but 3 is patchy inside my home

Cheers

It's worth noting that Virgin don't allow tethering, if that's important to you then the 3 One-Plan may be a better bet.

(And FWIW - be careful if you Google "Virgin tethering" oO )

What do you mean you can't do tethering with virgin mobile? I'm doing it at the minute. I have my phone tethered to my pc as my broadband is down, it's also set up as a wifi access point. I haven't had any extra charges on my bill.

The 99p postage should be added to the original post. Still a good enough deal and heated.

thanks, added to title

a good deal for those wanting a 30 day contract but when I looked into Virgin 'unlimited' texts are around 3000 IIRC and 'unlimited' data was 3.5gb

I don't have Virgin, but THIS suggests that it's not allowed. Have you been a user since before Jan this year, and hence had a different set of Ts & Cs?

Im also with virgin and can tether. Been doing it for years and dont get any extra charges.

So they throttle and apply a FUP then?

Oh well...might have to plump for 3 and haggle for a home signal box...

I also tether and get no charges. Virgin has been awesome

Just to summarise the VM policy on tethering and data allowances for this SIM:
t&c do not permit tethering (but most users will find tethering works fine, at risk of various slaps on wrists from VM)
within any one month: unthrottled data up to 3.5GB usage, subsequent unlimited data throttled to 3G speed.

Worth bearing in mind that their retention team are supposed to be fairly generous once you decide to leave after a few months with them

I use this deal already, absolutely brilliant and no problem with tethering. If you only want 3G then I can't understand why everybody isn't on this plan...why have limited data when £15 gives you unlimited?

same comment about tethering, been doing it for over a year without problems. coverage (via ee) can be patchy but just tested with speednet app and getting 20mb download on a N4.

finally, if you get this deal direct from virgin there is no delivery charge for the sim (possibly VM customers only).

No, only a few months, it does work for me though and no charges/warnings so far.

Yeah, it looks as though despite their conditions, many people successfully tether. Which is nice, but they could easily clamp down on it and/or charge...

Maybe you could on your deal. But this deal states Mobile Internet only. SEE THIS LINK

I tether on Virgin , no problem.

as some of the previous comments have noted officially new customers, since earlier this year, on Virgin you are NOT allowed to tether :-( So if you are doing so successfully keep quiet and feel very smug :-) I suspect they will catch up with you at some point though

there are a lot threads regarding it on the Virgin customer BB, some existing customers are ok, others have been 'cut off', and most but not all new customers barred from tethering... see community.virginmedia.com/t5/…501

Excellent point supported by numerous posts on HUKD and also personal experience - my £17 / month ESIMO has a permanent £10 / month discount applied to it. No indication that VMs generous retention deals may change in foreseeable future.

old news

Cost over a year; £180.99 Cost of 3 One Plan with tethering & truly unlimited data & 4G by the end of the year; £180 with £60+ cashback (up to £63.91 TCB if you take the free trial of their premium service like I have). One is hot, hot, hot; the other not (IMHO).

I have to disagree with this, I have been on a 2 year contact with them, have just over month left till end of contract and they will not budge on giving me a better deal than what is on their webpage, looking for a Samsung galaxy s3 with some decent minutes and the best deal they would offer is Samsung galaxy s3 with 200 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB data for £17.89, at the moment I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 with 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 1GB data for £15.99 which was at the time a generous retention deal, that was almost two years ago though. by the way, I have the Tv package, phone and internet with them.

If you choose the option on the website for "I am already a customer" you can avoid the 99p delivery charge. They don't actually check whether you are or not they just want your money.

Is their 'not allowed tethering' the same as other providers? IE; you get the odd 'You shouldn't be tethering on this plan' ... so you just switch airplane mode on, then off again (iphone) and you're flying?

SIMO. No inclusive handset.

Even though virgin say no tethering, I tether to my ipad now and again with no complaints from virgin.

I'm on giffgaff, who don't allow tethering, yet I do.

Realistically, what are they going to do that doesn't result in losing a customer?

I tether on Virgin occasionally, and allowed to do so because I've has a contract for many years, and never abused it.

I pay £8pm sim only unlimited everything

£15 is cheap & hot

It's a rolling contract, so you just keep on paying every month.

No problem

This really is the best deal out there if you need the mins and texts and a good amount of data.

The only one that rivals it is Three's One plan but thats £3pm extra on a one month rolling. Or the same price but for 12 months. This is great because it's only a one month commitment.
