deal before today was £31.45 for 1st 6 months then £42.95 a month after that, (£99 V+ installation)
Now its £31.45 for 1st 3 months then £42.95, (£49 V+ installation)
so not really been reduced much..

warning to anyone going for this for the quidco, i ordered mine online through quidco but when you select the v+ box, virgin call you up to take payment for the V+ box, which as any quidco-er will know that means your transaction will get declined, which is what happened to me.
id suggest to anyone to get normal virgin then wait for the quidco payment to be paid before then ordering the v+ box.

Hot, I think virgin isp is really solid connection all the time.
even with torrents

Mine isn't! Drops out fairly regularly.

I'm still trying to work out the calculations in the first post as don't seem right.

TV/Phone/BB = £49 a month x 12 - £50 = £538 / 12 = £44.83 a month

Where the £33.70 comes from for TV/Phone I don't know.

Actually you the have to ADD the £49 installation charge too so its back up to £48.92 before quidco!

don't get VM. check their phone rates, worse than BT. 10mb BB is really only 2.5mb (through traffic managing).

Its not £49 a month, its £49 installation. The price is £34.50 for first 3 months then £46 month (inc phone line)

I think your maths are out by a touch

The £33.70 is for:
£49 (V+ box) + £63 (total cost for first 3 months) + 292 (cost for remaining 9 months) / 12 months

it's only 2.5MB if you get throttled for being a heavy user...
10MB connection is very good, never get less than 9.8MB from my house!

not true

I always get 9-10mb, download quite a lot and never noticed the throttling at all.

My 20mb connection was EXCELLENT after the first couple of ****** months (they were completing upgrades?), never got drops and always got high speed. just watch the 12-4PM download limits so you dont get speed capped.

I would not agree about torrents. VM use a bandwith throttle on torrent sources. i find downloads start off ok but the d/l speed comes crashing down when the throttle kicks in.

Check your port settings and cap uploads. I'm on the 20Mb service and have had nothing less that 2MBps on private trackers recently. Also downloaded Ubuntu the other day and set a new record of 2.2MBps average!

(B>b)

Where does it say V+ box installed for only £49? as I cant find it....

Know what your saying, I use PS3 360 after work then switch on torrents when goto bed.
Always get 1.1 (10 mb) connection. Lost (heroes) in 5 mins
As someone said before 4 to 12 not good time to download,
if you live with your parents and they don't let you leave stuff on at nights
then maybe this not for you or time to move out. (hehe)
