Maybe it's because I value my free time, like an easy life and enjoy a reasonable hourly rate but I've never really understood why anyone would go through the hassle of creating such an account, managing separate cards all for the sake of saving a few quid. If you do the sums, the majority of folk will be 'working' for less than minimum wage with the time and effort they put into this loophole.

Final question, do you still enjoy the same credit card purchase protection with electron cards?

It's no big deal to transfer money by online banking from your main account to this one to cover the Airline payment, only takes a few clicks of your mouse while your sitting on your **** in front of your PC

If you say so, I guess that's what I was thinking of those who feel the need to spend an hour or so to save a few quid. Hey Ho.

While on the subject of cheaper travel ... Metro Bank current account debit card has no foreign exchange fee and no cash advance fee abroad.

I've only seen this mentioned once perhaps because they have so few branches so far.

Even if I have like 10 different cards and all of them for a different reason I would be interested in having this one. I cannot find anything about fees on their web page though. Where did you see info about that?

The word "once" in my post is a link.
A new branch has just opened local to me, they told me about in on their opening day, will be going back there this week to open an account. You don't have to have your salary paid into the account, just transfer enough money into it to cover your holiday spending.

How is this a deal?

I make a regular trip from London to Edinburgh once a month with Easyjet which costs an extra £12.95 when paying by credit cards. Over a year that comes to £155.40.

Of course, that's probably peanuts to you because you and your diamond tiara only travel on private jets right?

It is not. I have just posted a different topic for a free prapaid Mastercard, and because summer is coming I decided to inform of a possibility of getting a visa electron card as well.

On the end of a day it saves money.

If you'd taken the trouble to read my post you'd see I'd put 'majority of folk'. There will always be exceptions but if you're getting upset over £155 and feel that opening an unwanted current account, transferring money when forced to use it and forfeiting the protection a credit card gives you then I feel sorry for you. Let me have your paypal address and I'll send you some money.

I took the trouble to read your posts, and all it suggests is somebody who didn't think things through before opening their big mouth. I'm not upset about the £155. I'm upset that somebody can be as self-righteous, condescending and downright arrogant as you, and not realise it. I wouldn't want your money in a million years, but if you mean what you say, donate it to a worthwhile cause and post the proof on this site to show you're not such a prat after all.

will you send some money to everyone that didn't agree with you?then you will have a Q here.
And as usual we not benefiting from everyone comment, which the purpose of HD ,,we will loos the track, and miss the point.
looking forward to have more useful comments, thanks.
Not disappointed,yet.

My thoughts also...surely pointing out the obvious is not a 'deal' ? I would have thought that most people would have been aware (After making some online purchases) that having an electron or visa debit card means avoiding certain online fees.
There are companies who won't accept electron so visa debit works better for me.

In addition, a quick think about the posts here makes me think this is yet another ''Immigrants guide to life in the UK''.Aren't there special forums where foreigners can swap information about how easy it is to live in our country ?

Last time I checked it added about £6 per flight booking fee to my bill, considering each flight has a there and back thats about £24 for a return flight for two. If the fee was 50p per booking then maybe you;d be wasting your time

How is this a guide on life in the UK for immigrants?

No, there aren't, sorry. They used to allow them for Nazis and offensive, extreme right wingers though......

How many trolls are jumping on to this thread today?

Thanks op. If anything reduces the cost of living in this rip-off economy, then it's worth posting....

Do you not see the irony of your reply?
You criticise people who need or want to save a few quid, who are prepared to put a bit of effort into that. Yet, you clearly need the comfort of credit card protection (which usually only kicks in if you spend £100+) and are happy to pay a premium for that. Fine. You do what makes you feel comfy, cosy and secure. And intransient.
Just don't don't come on here, on an extremely high horse, judging people who want and need to save a few quid. you'll see that you are the one in the minority and it's you that's courting the sense of being felt sorry for. Each unto their own, eh?

BEWARE, IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE ELECTRON CARDS YOU CANNOT USE IT ON EVERYTHING ONLINE, I CAN SHOP AT ASDA, SAINSBURYS, BUT NOT AT TESCO, YOU ARE LIMITED IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE, IM CHANGING MINE SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM AS YOUR'E VERY LIMITED

Yes you can, I've got one. It's the EASYCASH account you want. It's easy to move money across to it as and when you need to online, (takes seconds) from your current account. Hope that helps.

same with any airline if you use a pre paid master card etc

RBS is Royal Bank of Scotland inc Natwest

HBOS is Halifax bank of scotland

Different banks so you can open a RBS account.

For easy jet, I use my post office GBP travel money visa electron card. It has 1.5% charge on reloads, no bank accounts required, no hastles. I believe co-op offers the same card.

I got a Visa Electron from the Co-Op when you could beat Ryanair's amazing admin fees by using it. They have since changed their policy. Co-Op card very easy to get, went online and had it completed in 10 mins. Just took some forms of ID and it was all very easy.
