A patient may have 1 x-ray per year or less. But the dentist may have to administer many a day and the additive affect of those over working days, months, years and a career adds up to a higher risk not worth taking.
That's the mother-in-laws birthday present sorted..

Why not take the kids along after you've not allowed them to have any vaccinations?
I’d love to do this but worried about the radiation (dur) ... what’s the deal with it? Is it “not great but not terrible”
Hotel Verhovina is where I got married last year!! It’s not in the city centre so you’d then have to get into the city, but Uber will be dead cheap for you (it’s what all and my ukrainian wife’s family did)

I did this a few years ago. Firstly I'm amazed at the drop in the price but secondly I would 100% recommend doing a 2 day trip into the exclusion zone where you get to stay inside it and explore even more the next day. From others I spoke to they found the 1 day trip a little rushed.

Incredible heartbreaking place but I cannot recommend it highly enough! I imagine it will become incredibly popular after the HBO mini series.

There is detailed information here.

I'm not an expert on radiation so I do not want to influence you in any way
The more irradiated clowns the better. Heat.

I think I'll put this on my bucket list, right at the bottom where it says "about to kick the bucket"
What next trips to Haiti after the next hurricane or earthquake or lets go to see the aftermath of a tsunami not sure why anybody would want to look at the aftermath of human suffering, really odd post, whatever floats your boat I suppose but paying to get irradiated is a line I will not be crossing anytime soon
Would have to be an (*) to do this.

I think those in Haiti or any location following an aftermath of a tsunami would be welcoming of tourists and their money.

Sir it is absolutely no problem I assure you our radiation detectors indicate it is only 3.6 REM. I am only wearing this suit to protect me from the glorious sunshine we bask in every day.
With a side bonus of radiation for free.

There is a point to be made for and against that obviously, it is not something I would want to do but as an educational tool it can be useful.

...and night
As much as this is interesting i dont think id go and visit it for moral and health reasons. I dont care how "Safe" the radiation levels are claimed to be i am not willing to risk my health, for all we know its propaganda that its at safe levels then 10 years down the line .... . They also said "Only 30 people died" and we know that was not true.

I would agree if a disaster had very recently happened but this is 33 years ago.
I will be wearing a space suit if I ever do visit Chernobyl
“I’ve been assured it is no more dangerous than a chest X-ray”
I am off to Kiev next Friday for a week. I had looked at the trip to Chernobyl and was in two minds. Having seen the people on here advising it then I am sold. I can't wait to see the Ukraine - it looks amazing.
I'm very tempted by this!

If that's the case why is there a 2,600 sq KM exclusion zone where no-one is permitted to live for the next 3,000 years? :/
I would love to go

Visiting and living are completely different...
You don't want to live there receiving constant radiation equivalent to an X-Ray.
