Might have been helpful to say where from?

rather than bitching...

I wish EBuyer wouldnt have items with no photos - without a photo or a review I cant see many people risking it. Some of Viston's other items on EBuyer do have photos and look ok so may be worth a risk.

There is a user review on the site: ebuyer.com/pro…ews

Not a hint of a photo *anywhere* on the net!

Just one user review in the whole world - a leap of faith methinks - probably is the 'Amy Winehouse' of internet radios looks wise.

It could well be this one, a no brand name Chinese import MX-200I, photo included.

Thanks for that...as feared, the casing was designed by someone called Olga, from the Ukraine circa 1979.

Hopefully a designer will come along and make it look cool and stick a letter "i" infront of the name and whack a price of £199 on it! Then it may probably get no buyer on ukhotdeal as I am going to buy a Elonex mini laptop and use it as an internet radio for £99! I think a £50 design point Linux OS machine will look bland as there is no money to paid for the cosmetics.

Anyone bought one yet? please comment? Does it use Reciva Technology?

Further to my note above, some company did stick a letter "i" infront of and called it : IPdio mini Internetradio ]http//ww…nt= with a name like IPdio it suddenly makes people think it is stylish and sought after! And it is Reciva technology , great and hot stuff: here is what the link says:-

After a couple of Logik IR100 returns I may get one of these as well, unless, I buy a cheap mini laptop and use that as an internet radio.

Here is a link to the video of the radio: video.ebuyer.com/134633

Not a great price. Just OK.
I got the Logik Reciva IR100 from PC World for £39.99.

First of all, there is no such thing as Philips Internet radio and never been. There are some products similar to this (Streamium SLA series, but it is more like Pinnacle Homemusic and not Reciva). They do, however, WACS series but is much more expensive (tenfold) that this.

Anyway, this Vistron seems to be very similar to other inexpensive Reciva radios (Logik IR100 is an obvious compettition to this). To compare the two:

Vistron:
2-lines display
3 quick access presets
Remote
External power supply
Much smaller than IR100

IR100:
4-lines display
5 quick access presets
No remote
Internal power supply

A very detailed review is here: logikir100.tripod.com/Vis…htm

However, this radio been at this price for at least a month or so.

Unfortunately, since then Logik reverted to "normal" price of 80 quid.

I thought I'd take a chance and buy one of these for the kitchen. I wasn't expecting much from the tiny speaker and the Vistron name made me nervous.

I must say I am seriously impressed by this little box. The sound quality is brillant and goes very loud without distortion, not HiFi but for a kitchen or bedroom it certainly fills the space. Scanned and found my network, entered my key and I was listening to a variety of radio stations in a few minutes.

Shared my iTunes folder on my Mac using SMB, told the Mx-200i to login, it scanned the folder and all sub folders and I was playing WMA, AAC and MP3 files in about 15 mins of fiddling.

The only bad thing about the radio which has been commented before is the remote doesn't work everytime, taking a few key presses. However the front dial is a joy to use and makes configuring and using very simple. At 80% signal strength from my router which is 5 metres away on the othersise of a 9" brick wall, I've had no drop outs, rebuffering or connection issues.

A fantasticly cheap way to get into Internet Radio. The reviews on eBuyer are really justified for this little box.

Finally mine arrived today, bought for £37 ish from ebuyer. About a third of the size of the IR100. It worked first time. As the IR100 is now £80 this is a better buy. The small speaker is just OK. For better sound quality (if boradcast is 64k + ) then use the earphone socket for a speaker output to get far better sound.
The remote is very basic and one has to be patient with its clicks. I shall buy one of those £5 learning remote as recommended to replace it.

Overall , worth the money for £37, but even on the first day it has this famous problem connection disruption as described so just have to live with it at this lowish price as for me that's only for one radio station where the streaming rate is 128kps, all the rest less than 40kps seem fine, . The 128 kbps streaming station when it plays just stops and then the display jumps to the menu. The wifi connection is 73% strength for a separation of 5 metres though one double brick wall and a tiled roof from the router it connects to a Netgear DG834PN.

]http//lo…htm partly cut and pasted below. It seems to happen only to a station that plays at 128kbps and not to the other radio stations which plays at less than 40 kbps.

Connecting to Network

I've seen this message pop up occasionally on the display interrupting listening of the current radio station. It tends to appear when I have been navigating the menus, I think when trying to access the Stations lists. The message seems to add a noticeable delay to the current operation you are trying to perform. On two occasions, I had to eventually power cycle the radio at the mains socket as the radio seemed to remain stuck on the 'Connecting to Network' or displayed 'Stopped' on any stream I subsequently tried to select.
