I found putting the tablet in your rectum, helped absorb the contents better...

I know what you mean, I think I am healthy eater, I also have moderate exercise in my life. But still my cholesterol is in border line, I wish not to start taking tablets but thought I will give an alternative a try. Have you any experience with these sterols tabs?

Comment It's all about what you eat your doc will have advised on which foods to eat and which to avoid or eat in moderation so taking supplements and having the correct diet will help but just popping these and still eating junk will make no difference

Did the plant sterols help tho , even different brand, did it lower your cholesterol? I visited my GP yesterday, and my cholesterol was boader line- so after much reading decided to give this plant sterols a go to reduce my cholesterol. Would it work?

Sit back, relax, prepare for nutrition and lifestyle advice HUKD style. Let me begin... "I dnt kno wi ppl bother wit this things coz its just about calories in and out = eat less and U be fine right?" My best regards, hope the deal gets hot! Matt

As I said current research is inconclusive but looks promising. And with 1000's of years of use it appears safe to experiment with. I for one have been conducting a little study of my own with a sample size of one, me, and it certainly seems to make a big difference in reducing hangover symptoms after a night out and consumption of 6 or 7 beers. :) Some of us are early adopters in life and are prepared to try out the efficacy of things that have, as yet, no firm scientific proof. When it's as safe and cheap as Milk Thistle the potential benefits massively outweigh any negative, IMHO.

Dont even go there lol!!!!!

Sounds good Mac.Maybe someone will conduct a good study on this one day and build up a case so strong that this will be made available free on the NHS as part of standard care for liver cirrhosis. Maybe you can up the intake to 3 large glasses a night :-)

A year ago i was told that my liver whatsits were a bit high due to my consumption of alcohol and being prescribed statins .I was advised to cut down on my consumption .Tried for a couple of weeks but was soon back to the same old level of 2 large glasses of wine a night .I was also told as i got older it would only get worse . I started to take Milk Thistle 240mg silymarin on a daily basis along with 'Liv 52' .Just got back from the docs this morning for the result of my annual blood test and my liver whatsits are now normal . All i can say is Milk thistle has definatley worked for me !!!!!

Lol popoyaya, talk about selective reading! Do you only read the bits that agree with your opinion. I'll fill in the gaps that you left out for illumination: Multiple studies from Europe suggest benefits of oral milk thistle for cirrhosis. In experiments up to five years long, milk thistle has improved liver function and decreased the number of deaths that occur in cirrhotic patients. Although these results are promising, most studies have been poorly designed. Better research is necessary before a strong recommendation can be made. Several studies of oral milk thistle for hepatitis caused by viruses or alcohol report improvements in liver tests. However, most studies have been small and poorly designed. More research is needed before a strong recommendation can be made. A small number of studies suggest possible improvements of blood sugar control in cirrhotic patients with diabetes. However, there is not enough scientific evidence to recommend milk thistle for this use. A small number of studies suggest possible improvements of blood sugar control in cirrhotic patients with diabetes. However, there is not enough scientific evidence to recommend milk thistle for this use. An herbal preparation containing milk thistle may be effective in decreasing symptoms of functional dyspepsia. However, milk thistle alone has not been researched. Several studies suggest possible benefits of milk thistle to treat or prevent liver damage caused by drugs or toxic chemicals. Results of this research are not clear, and most studies have been poorly designed. Therefore, there is not enough scientific evidence to recommend milk thistle for this use. I wont mention the cancer one as its beneath contempt. You need to read evidence objectively.
