VIVID 300, £25pm/ 12m basic tv package and weekend phone call free @ Virgin (Retention deal)

Found 14th Mar
This is my first post but I would like to share my findings.
My current contract was coming to an end which was Vivid 100 broadband, basic tv package and free weekend calls for current price of £21. so I telephoned virgin disconnection team to cancel and was offered 200 Vivid broadband, basic tv package and free weekend calls for £25 for 12 months.I told them I still wanted to cancel.
Today was was my first day of cancellation and by surprise I received a call from outbound loyalty team.
They offered the same but with Vivid 300 broadband for £25.
I think it was a good deal considering the broadband speed of 300mbps

This is very account specific, I'm in my 30 day cancellation period (day 28) still no call back and they don't give a S"#T for a 20 year account holder.

It is for customers coming to an end with their current Virgin contract. I only have two weeks to go when I telephoned to cancel
Im paying £33 for for just 100mb broadband lol
I renewed few days ago 100mb with phone line for £21.

They are inconsistent . I got told, i use too much data so cannot get a better offer when i tried to renew . Only way i got better offer was to leave them and join again as new customer.
Does this include line rental?
Damn, i shouldve cancelled. Im paying around 25 for 100

Similar to OP, I cancelled, 3 weeks later they called and offered me 100Mbps plus full house TV and phone line for £35 a month
Think OP should mention in headline that this is a retention deal. I read it and thought it was for everyone.

Yes, this is very individual and so I am not voting either way. I had tried to negotiate stating I had been with them (or their predecessor) for 17 years and the final price rise was enough, at the end of my contact's I was getting nothing offered except a slight increase in speed, but still with a price increase, so served them my notice and thought that might trigger something. It was only a couple of weeks later, when I thought I'm going to be without any internet etc. that I signed up to BT and I think they were going to port my number that seemed to trigger something and virgin suddenly called me at work and began offering. I held firm initially, but this was less than a week before my virgin termination and BT installation date, so then agreed a package and price and was also inside my BT cooling off period.

Such a faff that must cost them more with employing these teams - just have a better price to begin with! I may leave at end of my contact just in principle now despite having a better deal than advertised prices, as the whole thing is ridiculous.

God forbid you ask for a new router thats been running for 5 years. Had to go to the area manager to even get one, then it got messed up and took another 2 weeks. Useless company in all honesty. I would go with somebody else in a flash if they wern't just as bad.
Lol, I'm on 200mbs and speed tests (wired) barely ever reach 100mbs. How they can offer 300mbs is beyond me. I'm personally not too fussed since I'm only on 200 because of free upgrades (paying for 50mbs).

Sounds like your own equipment is rubbish and cant go any faster
I am paying 30 for the Vivid 50 with basic TV and only weekend phone.
Just took it out a month back. I regret it now.

I wouldn't recommend Virgin to anyone. When I signed up recently they:
- lied about the install date to get a sale
-amended the install date with zero comms
-install fiasco cost me two days income which they offered £20 for
-lied about the broadband speed on the package, but did honour it
-lied about the price of adding Sky Sports, won't honour it, only offering to feed back to sales persons line manager

Unless Sky is no good, steer clear of this lot. I'm not done with them, they think offering to release you from a contract solves everything.
Has anyone got this from just asking for being a loyal customer? Or do you actually need to threaten to leave?
I was offered £29 for 300mb, basic tv and weekend call. When my contract came through it showed £48? When I queried this, it because the agent forgot to add on line rental. They won’t agree to my original price so my disconnection date is end of this month and I have signed up to BT.

They didn't forget, they tried to scam you, I still can't believe they get away with this so blatantly and so often. Try cancelling, see the numerous lies they tell you then. Disgusting company.
amazing deal, best they could give me was 200mb for £28, no tv or phone. Quite happy with that but a little jealous of you

I have done this 4 times and they always call back also a customer since 1997 (telewest)
Advice please.
Current broadband too slow at 12 mb down & 0.7mb up + phone with TalkTalk.
Fibre / copper is not available in street currently.
Mobile services are rubbish at home.
Only alternative I can see is virgin fibre but with a phone doubles the cost.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I’m paying £52 for 100mb broadband and the small TV package
Would like to get this deal, I'm paying £41 just for Broadband 150mb
I've literally just got off the phone to the Virgin Media "loyalty" dept as retention's is calling itself this week. I gave notice to quit on Monday morning as my current 12 month contract had come to an end and the prices returned to normal almost doubling. I have currently 200mb Broadband, Tv Full house (as it was) Tivo v6 and old Tivo in bedroom, phone with weekend calls only - this went up to £67 quid from £39 I was paying for most of the previous year - without any haggling at all the agent offered to pay my years line rental - bringing it down to £48 per year - I asked about increasing the Broadband to 300mb and he ummed and arghed but then said yes ok - but I would need to lose disney and BT sports channels - no worries dont watch them anyway - and then I said if he could do it for £45 I would say yes now - he again went quiet and said £45.50 best i can do - now I am not going to argue over 50p so took the offer - so getting 300mb broadband, Tivo v6 and old Tivo, phone rental with free calls weekends Tv package that is nearly all the free channels all for £45.50 per month - that will do me for another year

All the providers are the same, I was with Sky for a few years (including fibre) and was getting a reasonable discount over the advertised prices, but went for the Vodafone £20pm 38meg fibre from last year and when cancelling wasn't offered anything better than what I was getting and would of stayed if they could do £20pm as I've been happy with Sky fibre.

Been with Vodafone since December and not had any issues (although only using their router to connect to my Netgear) and did have to contact them last week as I was getting throttled at peak times, was caused by a "line issue" and miraculously sorted within 30 minutes of reporting the fault
Tried once since I'm paying £34.25 for V350 but wanted to see if I could get it to go any lower but they said my price is the old price and the new prices I would be paying £48 or something like that. Then said I should try calling back in a couple of months after my loyalty discount (which is only £3 on the bill) runs out. Might try again tomorrow though.

£29 was the absolute best they could do for me. Had to phone to cancel (first cancellation lot were just sales team with no decent offers), then when I was confirmed as cancelling, calling back through the same steps got me to the rententions team.

I was on the same contract as you, £39 a month, I moved house in June and asked them about the costs. They said I would have to pay a one off fee (£20) but everything else would be the same. I then agreed and moved house. Since then, every bill is different, a lot more than £39. They have failed and still failing to get it right. Somehow the conversation was not recorded and they cannot find any reference that I was told I am going to pay the same amount as the previous address. I am complaining every month when I get the bill and they promise they will adjust it but it never happens. This is getting ridiculous now

I was paying £30 a month to TalkTalk for faster fibre and was getting speeds of 60mb wired and 30mb wireless.

I signed up to the uSwitch Virgin deal a couple of weeks back and got VIVID 100 internet with weekend calls for £34 a month and a £150 bill credit (works out at £23.17 a month after deducting the £20 activation fee).

Virgin installed on Friday and the speeds I am getting are 110mb wired and wireless.
