Says in the OP. "No Line Rental"

Virgin do some good deals but I found they throttle speeds at peak times. I left them and joined sky

Good deal, but it's a deal specific to you.

You shouldn’t have got this for 50 they don’t do it anymore, they should upgrade you to 100 for free, the retention deals are this for 100 and 200 for £2

When you speak to them they won’t talk 50 as it’s going, maybe it’s the way they worded it to be as it sounded like it had gone already but it’s supposed to have gone in March this year. We were on 150 and had the choice of moving up or down for the price difference we went to 200. It dos say in the article that you have to call them and it’s a new contract but all retention’s are anyway so make sure you get the right speed you pay for.

Hi op, were you on BB only with them? or did you drop phone and/or TV to get this? I'm currently on all three with them, but no longer want TV nor phone so am tempted to call and cancel the whole lot to see what I might be offered.

Great deal only offered me £32 when I called this week for 100 mbps!!!

Not had them throttle speeds at peak times yet .Considered moving broadband from them due to price though
Had deal all set up with sky till found out speed would be getting 2Mbps max and was getting 50Mbps with VM

Did you sign up to a broadband or fibre package. There fibre isn't available in all areas.
When on virgins 100mb package in peak times I was lucky to get 15meg. On sky I get a constant 70meg

Well I have Virgin fibre optic for £18 for the last 1 year, and my contract ends next month. Virgin phoned me and offered same package for £32 p/m, so I asked to stop the contact once it ends. 2 days later I receive a call and they offered me £23 p/m and first 2 months free of charge and here I am very Happy camper

I was recently offered 100mb + line rental for 19/m for a year + 19 credit when I threatened to leave

Is’t £19 + line rental? Or all for £19

Not a good deal. I’m paying 33 for 200mb and weekend call package.

That's why I'm considering switching. 70mbs off peak, sometimes as low as 20mbs peak time. Not acceptable considering the premium pay. I'm really thinking of leaving

I was able to get £31pm for Vivid 100 + weekend calls/landline, as an existing customers saying I was going to cancel for Sky. Considering I was paying £55pm for 150 + international calls, its a big saving, and seems to be slightly cheaper than new customer deals on their website. I guess they lost alot of customers this weekend and trying to keep the rest?

Well I got a retention deal last month £18 a month for 50mbps I think that’s a great deal so you can get that speed you just have to know how to talk to the right advisor

I left Virgin recently. From the moment I rang to tell them I was leaving them, They were rude and unprofessional. It also took 2 months of chasing them to get the money owed to me. In the end I had to email the CEO, twice, I then got a cheque in the post.
I had, prior to receiving the cheque, complained about how I was treated, for the time I had spent chasing them and for not refunding me the money I was owed. After the cheque arrived they called me and said they couldn't arrange a gesture of goodwill because I had cashed the cheque.

That was all that was available in my area if I look at speeds in area sky bt ect only getting around 1 or 2 meg at moment
While VM around 100 meg ,done speed test's at peak times always been at 48/49 meg when on 50 meg now always in high 90's now at 100 meg .Maybe they only throttle in areas were network capacity is not so good ? as never had speeds reduced at peak times yet . Would consider Sky again if could get 50 plus meg but 2 meg max is useless to me and VM know it as cant get any retention deals

My contract had just finished and I’m on 100Mb which was a free upgrade to 100Mb and they actually offered me the option to go back down to 50Mb as well. They wanted £37 for 100Mb and a little less for 50Mb with two months free, I had been paying £17 with a auto credit of £20 to get it to that price but they said they no longer offer long term credits on accounts. This was the so called magical call after giving 30days notice so I’m leaving. I’m rather gutted because my connection has been great with them

They offered me 100mbit for £20 and 200mbit for £25. Both including line rental. I think it's just luck.

Full House with weekend calls and 300mb internet for £31.50. I upgraded to 300mb yesterday but it hasn't come through. It was 50p less before for 200mb

yeah you have to get past that first call, once you cancel we got the call from retentions the following day, with the long term credit on the account to take it down to what we are paying.

what about any bb only retentiomn deals?

Cancelled with virgin but they haven't called me back. They must not want my business.

Make sure they clearly say the deal on the phone, i phoned a few months back for a deal as my price was going up each month and was getting too expensive, they offered me faster broadband for around £27, less then what i was paying so i agreed. i recently noticed the prices going up and after phoning them they said the deal i agreed too was for only 3 months then it was going up to a higher price then i previously paid? so now i am paying more after i phoned to pay less??
obviously i have been lied to and now awaiting a copy of my phone conversation which takes around 40 days to come through, but because of this i will always get them to clearly confirm what the deal is, which is what i am expecting to hear then i can get back in touch and discuss how i have been lied too.
i will never recommend virgin media now!

They will eventually call you back. Normally just before your disconnetion date.

Same here, my 100BB/TV Player/talk weekends went from £27 to £49!!
Called to cancel on Friday and i wasn't even offered a new customer deal even! Absolutely shocked, they just agreed the date of my cancellation, gave me some information on collection of my equipment and bye bye.
Haven't heard since and obviously if i don't, no biggie as i'm pretty sure some decent deals would be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks!

Sorry I should have been more clear, I got the call the next day and they actually wanted £2pm more than what I was offered when giving my 30 days!! They wouldn’t do anything for me! Now I’m seeing the odd person get a good deal from the call, he even asked his manager if there was anything they could offer and it was a straight no! is there a way to force a second call from this department?

Sadly this is why this should be in deals, it’s not applicable to everyone like the sky deals which mods move to misc

I've just been offered £26p/m + £50 credit on my account (effectively £21.80 p/m) so not too bad.

I was paying £17 a month for 100MB but the contract ran out , Managed to get 50MB for £20 a month from an outbound call from retention’s . Seems really hard to get an amazing deal with them now
