Looks good. I have no idea about the quality though..

I have the 4mp version of this camera. As a general happy snapper, it's pretty decent, actually. Shutter lag is obviously greater than with my Fuji S5700, but it's not too bad.

Video quality is a bit rough, being only 320x240, but it's a better frame-rate than you'd get on a camera phone.

Overall, for the money, this is perfectly acceptable. The bit 2.5" LCD display is perfect for older folks who need a big screen and I think I'll consider getting this for my old man's birthday.

Voted hot!

Edit: Notice that the video quality on this one is improved, being 640x480 @ 24fps with 16-bit audio. Not too shabby! I ordered one of these for my old-man and used my amazon voucher to make it £32.49, which is a good price for this!

voted hot. Thats got quite a lot of features for the money..

Just be aware that the vivitars eat batteries for breakfast.
If you plan to get one then make sure you get some high power rechargeables too and expect
to recharge them often.
I remember paying £7 for 4 high power batteries on a day to the zoo, and they were all dead 18 photos later!

All digital cameras should be used with rechargable nimh batteries. Alkalines never cut it for that type of use. With a standard set of 2500mah duracell rechargables I get over 200 photos w/o flash.

So I wouldn't agree that this camera eats batteries, above any other budget brand. It's comparable with my mother-in-law's 5mp Kodak, with similar-sized screen.

Vivitar get such a bum rap on this site, quite often from people who haven't tried them, or who haven't tried a cross-section of camera brands in the same class. The Vivitar bang-for-buck is very, very good in my opinion. This camera is definitely fighting above it's weight.
