No it is not . I found 4G signal is much better in my 5G phone compared to normal 4G phone. 5G phones have bigger and more efficient antenna s inside and technology like Mimo and carrier Aggregation inside . If you struggle for good data signal , 5G phones are way to go . Impressed by 12gb ram version. Switzerland has already achieved 80 % 5G coverage. UK won't be far behind at least in urban areas. Soon all latest new phones will be 5G . Apple paid 6 billion dollars to Qualcomm and 1 billion to Intel for 5G technology licences.

of course, they made the apex but all i'm saying is if anyone is expecting to buy these phones with a buttery smooth software experience, you ain't going to get it but it is swings and roundabouts, price vs specs vs performance.

The nex 3 however looks fantastic but I will wait for user software reviews before jumping on board.

sarcasm or not, The sony Xperia 1 is incredible! had a play about with one in the shop and the 21:9 display blew me away. On my list at the minute albeit no 5G.

A Sony with 5G pray tell
You'd have to be mad to spend that money on a phone which won't get decent software support or warranty care. I understand the market for budget Chinese phones but at this price save up for someone better

Yeah, bit of an acquired taste this one, but it's a 5G handset under £550, so its a good deal to me, clearly not to you, but we are all entitled to our opinions

Many of these phones are adopting stock/near stock Android.

Maybe so, but but at the end of the day, you're limited by the mast location and the current capacity provided by the carrier. You could have cat9 or even cat19 LTE but doesn't mean much when the carrier is intentionally limiting what the end user can use. In all fairness, the 5G speeds that I have seen so far in the UK, could easily be achieved by LTE...

But a better 4G or 3G data signal is a great advantage even without 5G connection with a 5G phone . Yes what you are saying is true of brands like Virgin mobile , ASDA mobile, EE Essentials, Plusnet where you can get full signal but no data as EE network is already overloaded after BT bought EE and oversold it . So unless you are on Max or 5G plan on EE network, you only get data when the network is not overloaded .

What's the point of such a long screen. Most people I know have 2 eyes, set horizontal not vertical.
The focal point of vision is horizontal, hence wide screen TVs.

Just take a contract one then. Even if £25/month on top normal contract cost, it's only £600 over the two years, and shall have a warranty.

Point I was making was there is very little 5g coverage at the moment and you are paying for a premium phone on a premium service that barely exists. By the time it is ubiquitous phones like this will be a dime a dozen and contracts the same as they are now

If serious, no way. Vivo are way better than Sony!
Great phone and great deal but... Who spend that amount of money on AliExpress? Prepare for customs then...

You will find it is not much bigger than the likes of the pixel XL or the mate 20 pro.

If you're stuck in the UK, then I could accept your point on both 5G coverage (obviously) but also on contract prices (e.g. Three.ie owns Three in Ireland, and O2 Ireland also ...so a simple PAYG €20 monthly top-up allows you to roam on both Three and O2 also in the UK, double the network option of Three alone, for less than Three alone charge in UK ...Just takes a bit of manoeuvring to get the unlimited data to roam with you).

I seen that, and a great deal it was. The €20/month .ie SIM is PAYG though, so not tied to a 24 month contract
I like the hardware however i cannot stand funtouchOS. Horrible ios clone with poor ram management

Chinese FuntouchOS is also on a whole other level as you cannot even sideload apps without signing into a vivo account as shown on techtablets Vivo IQOO review and 3rd party launchers dont work on CHINESE funtouchOS which this phone does run. And no global rom will probably exist or be able to be flashed.

No custom launcher support is instantly a killer for me, the launchers open but there is no way to set them as default

Absolutely true. At least Oppo and Vivo allow custom launcher support for global ROM, as I couldn't possibly use one of their phones without something like Nova.
I am a big confused about the 5g part. I bought an oppo reno 10x zoom 5g handset only. Does that mean my 5g will only work with EE.? The phone is unlocked but is the 5G signal only locked to EE.
Anyone?

If the phone is unlocked it should work on any 5G network. Double check though!
