The first phone announced with an in display fingerprint scanner, which is kinda cool.

Good video on jerryrigeverything about this.
Cool model, but all the effort to make Vivo marketable again and they go and leave band 20/800 europe off the spex, no nfc ((again!)) and it has a nasty notch!!

Think the Vivo Nex is their saviour, as it has nfc & band20, with no numpty notch, but the screen res ppi on it, is something out of the 90's for all that money.

Had a go on one of the UD's last week, it is shockingly fast to unlock on the screen, considering all the tech and fluffy stuff that has gone into getting it to work, before Samsung's one coming this year
Wasn't Mi8 explorer edition close to being first to have the in screen scanner?

For the price and a no-brand reputation, an sd660 is hard to forgive, fancy firsts aside...

If you really like this phone apart from name and processor the explorer would be a great shout if you can bag one at a good price. HTH
Also on the charging port I'm using the magnetic charging leads and ports which makes that a non-issue. Have used it on my ZUK Z2 and P20 Pro and think it's the way forward!

The round one spins so you can use it while plugged in much more freely.

vivo is definitely not a no-brand. top 5 brands in Chinese market for years.
huawei, xiaomi, vivo, meizu, oppo, they all make good smartphones with good price/spec ratio.
huawei and xiaomi might be the best two that hit international market in a good time.
but i agree with your point that sd660 isn't worth the 400 quids.
Considering the price the top spec Sharp S2 this at 2.5x the price is a bit hard to swallow.

Maybe I should say "a chinese brand" instead but certainly a brand with little leverage in the UK to charge premium, much like Xiaomi etc.
