Decent Ryzen 5 2500U Price - I have this processor in a plastic fantastic HP laptop I bought this January. It hasn't stopped amazing me with the games it can play. Most recently, Resdient Evil 7 plays remarkably well.

This one only has 4GB Ram, as opposed to my 8GB, but I don't think the Vega 8 graphics use anymore than 2GB anyway.

Next closest price I can find is over £500.00

Nano-edge display means this 15" laptop is closer in size to a 14"
1080p Screen and USB-C to boot!
Great deal, shame about the 4GB RAM

can the ram be easily upgraded. i am never sure if that will void the warranty as you do have to open a back plate
Good price. Heat added. I have the "plastic fantastic" hp one I believe the OP speaks of and it is very good. But the wi fi wasnt 5ghz so added a dongle for that. If the ram of this can be upgraded for a reasonable price it would make it an excellent buy.
Yep, I'm sure RAM will be upgradeable. If it is, stick 8GB in and you've got a fantastic mid-budget laptop with decent gaming performance at low settings.
hmm.

no details about the dimensions of the laptop only advertising blurbs about it being similar to 14inch.

no details about if ram upgradable.

and no details about screen technology if ips ir tn. asus do tn panels of this model too i believe.

answers not even on asus website,
annoying.

so gonna pass if they can't be bothered to give such basic details. as probably dodgy.

Only drawback here is the screen. Looks like its quite dim at 200 nits. Not sure because its great otherwise
Is this the R3 or R5 processor, as it notes both within the description/spec? It also notes that that is has the latest AMD R5 processor but then states it has the R5 2500U and the latest is the R5 3500U.

Right old mess of an item description really. Good job Very.com ?

Have done some more research and can confirm it’s an AMD Ryzen 5 2500U quad core processor. So not the latest as noted by Very.com, but still a decent processor
For those asking about the RAM, there is one slot and it is on the wrong side of the motherboard so you need to disassemble basically everything, so not ideal for those that aren't that confident taking things apart.

From reviews I have read, the screen on the Asus is not too good on viewing angles. I wanted a 14" laptop anyway. Most of the 15" ones are too big imho

I think it's been cheaper but I was desperate as my old laptop packed up.

This is the one I have, but my product code is hp-14-cm0999na however the specs seem identical.

This laptop is amazing, really amazing. Just wish it wasn't flimsy feeling plastic. But small price to pay for such a good deal (it was about £350 back in Jan from AO price reduction + eBay 15% deal)

And this current deal is only £35 more and I imagine would be just as surprisingly good. These Ryzen APUs are very good for the money.

That 4GB RAM though 😫

Thanks for this op. I've ordered it. Had a £30 off code so with free collect plus delivery was only 369.99. Not sure whether my code was account specific but it was N9MKU in case anyone else wants to try it.

Code didn't work for me. You got a bargain. FYI, manually installing the adrenaline drivers from AMD boosted the gaming performance A LOT. But there hasn't been any supported updayes from HP since release. Not sure about ASUS, they may be better at staying up to date.

Can I do this by starting with a Google of "Radeon Vega 8 driver update"? Thanks.

There are a couple of things you need to do. Google each for instructions. 1st, disable auto-update of graphics drivers, or Windows will keep re-installing the old drivers from Windows update.
2nd, download the adrenaline drivers from AMD for the Ryzen 5, extract the files but cancel the I stall (it won't work). Then, manually update the driver through device manager, pointing to the files you extracted earlier.
