should be quite easy, just pop in to your local private phone shop and they will unlock it for about £10 - £20. Alternatively, you can call up Vodaphone who can do it for you over the phone but could charge a little more.

I've just ordered one and was charged only £10 so no top up charge.

I dont think that's quite what they had in mind for such a cheap phone

It's an alcatel, unlock codes on ebay for about £1.39

Free unlocking here.Just post your imei no. and provider id and someone will give you a code.

Forgive my skepticism but post your IMEI number on public forum?

Update no stock on pcworld but go to currys you can reserve and collect if in stock locally checked near me to make sure they are available and a few stores stock them

They were selling this for £15 a while back in the vodafone shop with £10 credit included

Reserved one to collect from Currys. Need a stop gap until my upgrade in May. As sajnan said also available for £9.99 from prepaymania on Amazon.

still avaiable seen today.

cpw was selling this phone unlocked £15 inc £10 topup but gone back up to £20 with the £10 topup.

I got the Alcatel version (OT-255 - in lurid turquoise! ) for £4.90 plus £10 top up from e2save. It's still there at that price but awaiting stock and it looks like you can reserve one. I got £7.50 cashback from Quidco, sold the £10 SIM to my friend for a fiver and we were all happy.

The 345/225 is otherwise very basic but the qwerty makes composing texts a breeze. I've just promised mine to my 75-year-old mum because she loves the easy texting. I'm getting a battery life of over a fortnight on standby, which isn't bad at all.
