This is applicable to those of you who took out a 12mth SIM ONLY deal around last Ju;y / August / September such as the one I submitted then - hotukdeals.com/ite…921
You are eligible for an upgrade if you are within 50 days of the end of your contract so I had a look online to see what was available.
If I was willing to go for another SIM ONLY they were just offering half the mins and I would need to pay an extra £5pm (£15).
However, on choosing the option to retain my existing tariff and take a phone, around 9 phones were offered - all free on a 24 month contract. This included the Blackberry 9700 in Black or White (and the Nokia mini N97). Curious I clicked to see what was available on a 12 month contract - remarkably the Blackberry remained there along with some other phones.
I placed this into my basket, it confirmed the tariff was to remain at £10 and the charge for the phone was NIL (albeit I had to give my Credit Card details for them to debit £1 for a credit check).
After 3 confirmation emails from Voda, delivery was confirmed for this morning and the phone has duly arrived.

Hopefully of use to some of you who took advantage of the SIM ONLY last Sept.

Not bad for a phone which is worth around £300 on auction websites whilst getting 600 x network mins per month, unlimited texts, unlimited vodafone to vodafone and Vodafone Passport - 12 mths x £10 = £120 or £180 profit if sold!!!

would not use vodafone if they were the last mobile operator in the world. they con you big style when you leave. everybody knows you pay for your line rental 1 month in advance. however when you leave they try and will charge you for your final month again! beware

Slightly confused, because if you took your contract out in September you can't actually upgrade until July....

So probably not the best way to start a thread

Just checked and my first bill was actually 7 August so have amended the above - thanks.

As a long time lurker I had to register to comment on this. Hot deal for those who are eligible like myself, can't see why its not a hot deal. Thanks to the original poster.

My sentiments too, terrible company. I cancelled my account, still they bill me, cancelled it again, still they bill me. Told them to stop billing me as accouynt cancelled, they reimburse some money but continue to bill me. I then ignore their bills and have a debt collection company phone me every morning at 6.45-7.15!!!

Contact vodafone to tell them to leave me alone, they appologise and say no further communication will come my way. This morning yet another bill!

AVOID VODAFONE LIVE THE PLAGUE!

Managed to get not one but two Blackberry 9700 Bolds for free just by renewing my £20pm sim-only contract for another 12 months! :w00t:

Don't kow how it happened but it let me upgrade twice!

Thank you Vodafone - great network! :-D

all very well if you just want to sell the BB 9700 - but if you actually want to use the BB to its full potential how much is data as this will be outside of the SIM only price plan?
