Good to know. I have had plusnet for 3 and half years. Excellent service since then. Other people had it bad.
I just received a text to say my bill is going up by 2. 5% from 30th March 2020 so be prepared for a price increase. I am not happy about Vodafone jacking up their prices during these hard times even if its only 2.5%.
Virginmedia is best if you're looking for guaranteed 50mb speed if you are happy with their basic package ... They increase their prices every year.. I cancel and sign up new contract every year to keep the prices down as a new customer.
I've had vodafone for 3 years now. I switched from bt and have found it to be much better.

Vodafone constantly take liberties with theirs customers. My bill has gone over £27 for 35mb line? Switching to talk talk because at the time they were offering £100 cash back 65mb line £21.95 with speed boost. Don’t like to switch but don’t like the way Vodafone their existing customers.
Vodafone have been an absolute nightmare for me, on my third router since joining in Autumn, getting a replacement has involved literally hours speaking to them or waiting to speak to them each time.
I’ve been with them years and not a problem. I was on an old deal and No I’m paying £7 a month less for almost double the speed. No brainier for me
Vodafone have been good for me, just needed to call them to remove barred access to vpn's

As i have mentioned in another thread - the vast majority of issues that people face are down to the supplied ISP hardware.

Invest in your own router and modem and things should improve dramatically. ASUS routers are a good choice and a BT Openreach VDSL / ADSL modem is also reliable. Try to avoid routers that have a modem built-in to them as these tend to be less reliable than the seperate router / modem combo.

A new router won't improve their beyond woeful customer service, though it might mean you don't have to use it so often.

Is it easy to configure your own router?

Is it easy to configure your own router?

It may seem a little daunting but there are plenty of threads from a Google search that will reference the settings required to input on the router that you have to be able to use with the particular ISP in question.

For Vodafone in particular you would need to obtain the router login details which are only available through customer support. I am unsure if Vodafone still have call centres open - i am also uncertain if their 'live chat' support will be able to provide that information and may refer you to calling customer support.

I was about to switch to Vodafone but i was hearing reports about people having problems transferring ISP's at the moment due to the on-going shutdown.

I was also concerned that even if i manage to switch ok their 'live chat' would not be able to provide the router login details and i would have to stick with their own router for a while (the very idea of which makes me want to throw up). The virus peak will be on it's way soon so it's only going to get worse for a while so i am going to have to wait.

Im with Vodafone and find them pretty good, decent speed no difference to BT who I used to have. I get the full 80mbps.

Customer service is alright too on the live chat, you don’t have to wait ages to speak to someone.

Router is decent too comparable to a BT router for distance etc
I just received my New Vodafone Router today looks like a decent piece of kit, I go live on the 31st. I was quoted to get 67mb and it would go no lower than 40mb. I just left Talktalk been with them a few years, £1 extra with vodafone at £23.99 per for 18 months and £100 Amazon gift card after I am with them for 120 days. What security do Vodafone have set up regarding Kodi ect?
Worst experience i ever had with an isp was with Vodafone. The speeds were incredibly bad on evenings, they had a run of a few weeks where it was nationwide but they refused to accept it was happening. I’d avoid like the plague based on the cs experience alone

Mine was Bulldog back in the day, shocking
I’ve been with Vodafone broadband for about a year. Been pleased with the speeds and would renew and recommend them. Use my own router and had no problem getting the username and password over chat

Any info from anybody on how I can renew my contract with Virgin as a new customer?
Been with them since NTL days and paying £42 per month for 100mb broadband only. Have spoke to them, they won't budge on price.
Have done the retentions dance and I caved in after three weeks after not hearing from them. (I am contactable).
I don't know if its because of my usage, probably about 500 gb up and sometimes 1tb down (nas and cloud ip cam back ups) but they do say that's very high and no other isp would allow that.
Service is great, that's why I want to stick, have looked around at other isp's and can't make the change as new installs not happening at the mo.
Live with my partner who has a different surname if that helps?
Thanks in advance.

I think you cannot renew the contract now. I gave them 30 days notice early this month and I'll be disconnected soon as they are working with reduced staff ... I tried to contact them this week but you cannot reach them as they have only 1 person handling calls from 1000s of people.
I pay £26.50 for 100mb broadband and weekend calls. I tried to reduce the price, failing which, I gave the notice.
Never mind... It will be cheaper to sign new contract via moneysupermarket as you will be given amazon voucher. The value of voucher if added to the annual cost of contract, it works out quite cheap.

Only problem is availability for me, wish I could get Virgin 😫
I've been with them since last September. Was with Plusnet for a few years before that, faultless service, but they wouldn't do me a deal and the Voda deal at the time was to good to miss, so I jumped ship.

I always use my own equipment, but used the new Voda router during the DLM period and found it to be very stable, so I saved myself some cash and am still using it now. Speeds are great and the line has been rock solid, no complaints from me.

I hear their customer service is not good, but I have never had to use them.
£100 Amazon voucher via Broadband Choices plus maybe £30 via Quidco

Did this a couple of days ago when an 18m contact was £24/m. Fingers crossed the switchover goes ok.
Poor service ! wFH and it disconnect every few hours automatically
I’m with them and it’s spot on. Iv heard they ring some customers up tho if you try TopCashback and Quidco or use other companies as it’s happened to both of my relatives and heard stories on here .

MIne was the same until I changed the DNS settings in the Vodafone router. I changed them to Google's DNS 8.8.8.8,4,4,4,4

I'm supposed to get £120 Amazon voucher but I doubt that'll happen considering the world events at the moment.

I've been with Vodafone for 2 months now, still waiting for the Amazon voucher which they say can take 3 months. I've read a lot of stories of people never getting the voucher, and that does seem a likely outcome so don't factor this in when deciding. Also the service has been pretty bad until I manually changed the DNS settings in the router to Google's. Cheap for a reason I guess. I can't get out of it now anyway. EE were totally ripping me off and I can live with the 63Mb I get from Vodafone, just don't expect things to go smoothly.

I had drop outs always in the night around 6 til 10, contacted them and they told me to do exactly what you have done and no problems since thankfully! Speed does drop a bit at busy times in the night but still faster than what I did get with sky

To be fair, Vodafones latest router is actually pretty good. I had nightmares with there other modem/router so was using my own which was faultless but thought I'd give there latest modem/router a try. I like Vodafone's app, If your sync speed is less than they're guarantee they give you a 15% discount via the app. My line went faulty and openreach had to switch my line over which reduced my overall speed capability by about 5mb. They guaranteed mine at 54mb it's been syncing at 53.4mb for several months so I get a 15% discount each month. Yes I'm sure they could fix it but I'd prefer the discount, It's been consistent, They don't block iptv or torrent sites which is a bonus.

I've had good and bad CS from Vodafone, Best service I got was when they wiped a £500 bill off due to there error, Their was a glitch on my account which meant they never billed me for several months.

I did wander because I do struggle at time with buffering on iptv I thought it was my connection but then Netflix works fine. I use iptv app on LG tv.
don't Vodafone have a guaranteed speed, if you don't get that you get a reduction on your bill ,or am I wrong?
Great price for 63mb but 24 months is ridiculous, the contract terms are getting longer just like mobile contracts, i had Voda 35mb fibre & it was ok, the router wasn't, the wifi signal was poor & i sometimes had to reboot the router to get better speeds,i switched to Shell energy(TalkTalk) after they put the price up, i found support none existent on a sunday when i rang them after i was getting dial up speeds, like most others they outsource their customer service/support to a call centre operator - Sitel
