That makes no sense.

Either you ordered sf2 knowing you can't max the speed out or you must be doing speed tests on crap WiFi?

What is your guaranteed speed when placing an order with Vodafone and another ISP such as bt?

I was going to get this but managed to talk BT down to £23.99 a month. Obviously no £75 voucher but given BT has arguably better CS I don't think its too bad

It’s 15Mbps on SF2 for 16 months so far and that crap WiFi is the Vodafone router so you have only highlighted your bias.

Discount is applied and no upgrades are planned as far as I’m aware.

WiFi is dependent on your home.

Running speed tests should be done via ethernet so there is nothing that can interfere with the results.

I'd be surprised if only Vodafone gives 15mbps though.

Is there usually any downtime when you are switching broadband?

Short answer no as far as i can make out

if you switch from one openreach provider to another - its almost instant
if you're switchingn to a fibre connection - just make sure your provider overlaps for a bit

I have a custom built gaming pc with Ethernet connected having tested internet thoroughly over months.

There may be an issue with the connection between here and the exchange but that hasn’t been corrected.

I can stream VR from my pc to my Quest over the 5ghz channel and there’s no issue. It’s the download speed which is not even close to minimal guaranteed speed.
I'm not hitting the guarantee but only by a few MB so discount applied. Early days, but it seems ok to me. Had a few issues but they seemed to have sorted themselves out.

The router is better than the sky q crap, but not much. I'm hunting for the best router for this under £200.
I was forecast to get 56mbps on Superfast 2 and actually get around 63. My PC is upstairs , the Vodafone router is on the ground floor in the living room and I get WiFi 45/55mbps on that. Can't complain so far but only been with them three weeks. On 'My Vodafone' online it says I have a 24 month contract but on the actual paperwork they sent me it says 18 months - Looks like I'll have to argue the toss if I find a better deal in 18 months.

how much discount they give you for not gettng guranteed speeds?
Rubbish, stay away from these morons. I placed the online order via Quidco successfully yesterday. Now got phone call stating that due to some ‘technical’ issue and order is cancelled (won’t receive email but he can confirm only on phone). The issue is now resolved and he can take new order for same package over phone. Or place online order after 48 hours (when his deal will be ideally expired). Hope they don’t mess with my existing service and leave me without a connection.

Thanks. I’ve had the discount from the start. What was the basis for you to receive £100 Amazon voucher? I’m aware there’s one for £75 right now as stated in the link.

It was directly with Vodafone Broadband from quidco
You'll be lucky if you ever manage to get through the ordering system. I tried to take this out and it kept failing at the last hurdle. 5 customer service people later their only suggestion was to use another email address. Not really interested in that so went with Plusnet instead. Also tried to take out a Vodafone mobile contract just before Xmas, I failed the credit check despite earning in excess of £100K and having no mortgage. I'm so glad I sold my shares years ago.

Please check the Vodafone forum, thousands of people struggle to get anywhere near the advertised speed.
Yes the vf routers arent great but its more to do with oversubscribed exchanges and traffic shaping.
It took me months to get vf to admit there was a problem, my sync speed was 60mb but actual speed tests showed less than 1mb.

Pay a little more and go with a more reputable isp.
24 months 👎
Still waiting for cashback from them. Got broadband in december 2019... cashback is hit n miss

They measure sync speed though and not actual throughput as the metric for that.

If you haven't given it a go already, try plugging ADSL into the test socket on your master socket. When I first joined Vodafone I had poor speeds (~15Mbps) but it was fine through the test socket. They sent an engineer over to sort the wiring within a week and it's been fine from then on.

I've been with Vodafone for coming on 3 years- speed and connection has been almost perfect, but echoing what others say, customer service is abysmal. Tried to upgrade to Superfast 2 last year in July when they were running a promotion, the guy doing the order botched the order and my account so badly that it became impossible for me to actually upgrade at all for a period of 6 months (don't ask) and it took me months of phone calls for them to actually get to the bottom of what happened. Still on Superfast 1 because I don't have it in me to spend another 15 hours listening to that hold music. Pray nothing goes wrong.

Been with them 9 months, never had to speak to CS once, they sent me the new updated router without asking for it. Very happy, rock solid speeds

Which department did you speak to to get the price down and what were you on before
My broadband connection with Virgin is pretty poor these days therefore I placed an order with Vodafone. The Vodafone engineer came to connect the route and left, but no internet at all. Contacted Vodafone and was told to wait for another appointment. I am working from home and can't live without broadband, so have to stay with Virgin - fortunately I haven't cancelled the service with Virgin.

I was on Fibre1 at £38 a month with the contract running out. I called retentions directly and mentioned this deal...and they offered me £24. I just took it as I didn't want the hassle of changing broadband...plus most people think VF broadband is trash

Take it you've got the old crap router? That really is terrible, I used my own until Vodafone agreed to send me the new VOX 3.0 router which is pretty good, At least as good as my own router was with the benefit of being able to use the broadband app etc. Mines a very consistent 54mb. I just qualify for the minimum speed guarantee which is 55mb. Mine literally syncs at 54mb. I could get them to fix it or it might fix itself if I reset my connection etc..but for the sake of a nice 15% discount I'd rather it stay at 54mb lol.

Thanks OP! Was just looking at getting a new broadband contract. Heat.
I for one absolutely love Vodafone as both their download and upload speeds are the best.
I always recommend people to go for Vodafone
Never had to phone their customer service
Called only once to retention to get better deal and new router was sent.
Son on Xbox gaming
Me gaming on mobile
Wife on YouTube and no issues.

Oh they sent me the old router out twice before finally sending me the new one lol. I've had my issues with Vodafone too. However they did write a £700 bill off due to a glitch! My account was stuck in July 2016 for some weird reason, My estimated bill was accumulating but they never debited it so it was creeping up and after several months they finally fixed my account and wrote the bill off so no complaints there

On another occasion I did have a technical issue they sent openreach out the following day. My line had a fault so openreach switched me onto another line. Sadly the line capability speed declined a few MB but since then it's been stuck at 54mb and I've had a nice discount every month. I've paid around £17.25 a month for the last year or so and for me it's been consistent! Night and day.
