BEST NOKIA N95 8GB DEAL!!

Ok, a £40pm contract sounds a lot, however it's only a 12 MONTH CONTRACT, and with the £130 Quidco cashback this works out to be only £29.17 per month, for which you are getting a FREE Nokia N95 8GB version handset, which can be unlocked through Vodafone F.O.C. and sold on e-bay if desierable.

I think the best thing about this deal in comparison to those already posted is the 12 month contract, as I do not want to be tied into an 18 month contract!! Typically my phones start to go wrong after about 14 months, and they fall outside the 12 month warranty period, and my contract continues for another few months before i can get a new phone.

Certainly better than any other deal on the market (based on the Quidco cashback) for the Nokia N95 8GB and all those minutes and texts!

Also worth noting that Quidco are offering an extra £10 cashback for the first 100 members who take out a validated contract from Vodafone and post in the comments box on the Quidco thread. I just posted there and I was comment number 30, and from looking at the comments listed a lot of them were general questions as apposed to people who had actually taken out contracts! I would say there is space for about another 80 contracts to get the extra £10 cashback, making it £140!!

For some reason the link seems to be taking me to the 'Samsung F490' phone, for which I have no idea why as I have re-pasted the direct link into my browser and it works, but doesn't seem to through this page. I am trying to fix but in the mean time the direct link is ]http//sh…gb/

Big Mistake going for this in my opnion, N96 is out July 31st, that will crash the price of this phone, all the networks are pushing the N95, to get rid of there stocks... patience will reward you.. if you really want it wait until the N96 is out, you will pick this up on a contract for next to nothing

Already thought this myself, but having reviewed the N96 on the Nokia homepage, i still rate the N95 8GB as a better phone. Certainly when you do the spec comparison there is nothing worth having on the N96, that the N95 8GB doesn't already have. Like-for-like camera etc.

I totally agree that the deals will get better on an 18 month contract. I would be VERY surprised if you can beat the deal in a few months on a 12 MONTH CONTRACT (in my opinion).

Post back in 3 months when the N96 is released and let me know of a 12 month contract with this phone for less than £30 (effective cost after cashback). I think N96 is due out in Q3, maybe a little sooner?

Also worth noting that the Quidco offer of £130 is only valid until the end of July, so by the time the N96 is launched, you will have lost at least £40 Quidco, which is a lot on a 12 month contract!

aaaaaa I don't know mate. Am buying and selling mobiles as a job for the last couple years.... never seen better phones than nokia in terms of holding value... 8gig is brill, still am byuing it at 160 minimum, 220 bnib-and it's been like 1-1.5 year on the market? when it got out used to pay 310 bnib, so hell of a phone/value. N96 according to everyone is just a n81 clone. All the premiere pics.... kinda s*** tbh.

All in all, cannot fault the deal, noone can buy 8gig on a better 12mth plan. rep/heat added.
Thanks

I'm currently considering this phone, between a number of others, so this tip is much appreciated

Don't forget though, if you do decide to go for this phone (or any other on Vodafone) Quidco are giving an extra £10 cashback to the first 100 contracts taken out through them (see ]http//ww…183 for more details. At least 70 spaces still left, but be quick! :-D

Also just noticed that on this deal you get 3 months subscription to Vodafone SatNav and Nokia Maps voice-guided navigation, which is cool if you like gadgets

Im sure I read a thread on here that mentioned the unlimited interent on a £35 + p/m contract

This is dated May 2008:

pcadvisor.co.uk/new…949

daBLueone, Vodafone have their own dedicated forum right here...

forum.vodafone.co.uk/ind…idx

...so you can register and ask there for a response or you could just phone them

The reason I asked here is I know alot of people use Quidco and I have no experience.
Quidco mentions that you can effect your payment if you dont do all of your dealings online.
I wanted to know if it would be ok to phone Vodafone customer services to find out the status of my order or if this will effect my quidco.

Thanks for the heads up on the Vodafone forum - i will sign up - but doesnt help me on this part of my question.

I was actually referring you to that forum so you could ask about the apparent new bundling of "unlimited" data. As for help with Quidco then that forum won't cover it. You could login into your Quidco account and start a ticket, which is not the same as an Earnings Enquiry, and ask them about a split order

Hiya, I have now received my new Nokia N95 8GB on the £40 pm contract I posted here.

I have just phoned Vodafone customer services to double check about the free internet and they have confirmed that yes my contract does include for free mobile internet up to a fair usage policy of 500mb per month.

I have seen posted on other pages and other forums that if you go over the 500mb fair usage limit you could be charged £2 per mb over this!! I brought this up with a vodafone customer service representative who said that this is not the case at all and if you go over you will not be charged, however you will receive a letter through the post telling you that you have exceeded the monthly allowance and what the consequences of repeating over usage could be. Presumably slower speed, stop ur internet altogether???? not sure????

I hope that proves to be of some use.

On another note, having spent some time playing around with the phone, I think it's absoultely brilliant!! It's so easy to use the internet and this is by far the best mobile i have ever had. The camera is excellent!!! My previous mobile was the Nokia N80, thus i am finding the N95 8GB extremely easy to use as I am already fully familiar with the Nokia N Series!

I fully recommend this phone and price plan to anyone! Superb!

Not sure what to advise you on this I'm afraid. The only thing i would say is that £130 is an incredible amount to risk, so if you are in any doubt then presumably cancelling and re-ordering would be better safe than sorry.

Sorry that I couldn't be of anymore help

Let me know how you get on though

When I got my Sony W960i back in Feb on a similar 12 month deal, I phoned Vodafone just to make sure the phone was in stock. The guy answered yes and did I want to order it there and then. I said no as I was going to go through Quidco to get my, at the time, £90 back. He then spoke to his supervisor and offered me £10 off per month my line rental for 9 months to make up for the loss of Quidco. As this was guaranteed I snapped his hand off!!!! Free Bluetooth headset also. Worth asking their customer service if people are worried about Quidco not tracking or paying!!

Guess what! I've just had a phone call from Vodadone Customer Services..... apparently when i was told earlier that my 12 month contract came with unlimited internet, this was in-correct, it is only on 18 month plans!! They immeadiately went on to say that this had obviously not been made clear enough (to which i agreed and referred them to their own forum, where they talk about £25/month price plans coming with free internet, with no mention of it only being on 18 month contracts), and that they have added the unlimited mobile internet to my tarriff free of charge for the duration of my contract!!

Now this seems bad on Vodafones part for the mistake in the first place, however they have certainly rectified the problem, to which i cannot fault them.

It seems to me though that if you take out the contract and then complain that the free internet has not been made clear anywhere that it is only 18 month price plans, they will just add this to your account free of charge (normally £5/month accordingly to vodafone staff).

I hope that is of some help, but just be careful with it. If for any reason you were expecting free internet and you do not get it added, remember you have 14 days to cancel and take out another price plan with the required free internet package, or you can just add it for £5/month

cheers for the info (and sorry for slightly hijacking your thread with my barrage of questions)

I couldn't cancel phone as the delivery had already gone through to the warehouse. So I'll have a quick play then send it back and re-order. Im not gonna risk the quidco.

I'll also ring about the internet - if they dont throw it in I may cancel anyway.

no worries daBluone, i'm normally the one asking the questions, glad it was of some use. All i would say is once you get your new mobile, phone up vodafone, complain about how you were expecting free internet and that it was not made clear on their forum press release thingy and that you want to send the phone back under the 14 day cooling off period, that's what i did and now i have unlimited internet.

Also i must confess that i didn't fully understand the potential of this phone at the time of ordering and have now found that i can use the internet through WLAN's, which covers home, work, most of my mates and some restaurants bars etc, so i have been using the internet through them at no cost anyway. Guess the free vodafone internet will come useful when on a train or out and about away from an access point. Well impressed with its features though - i'm like a kid when it comes to new toys!! :-D

I also got my phone unlocked when speaking with customer services, so i can use my old three simcard (until my old contract runs out at the end of the month) and a load of other free sims i have on PAYT. ;-)

Let me know how you get on with ur quidco etc

I am not sure weather to go for the deal! I am so tempted but am not sure! can any1 please persuade me to buy it?

lol. I can tell you the phone is brilliant, trouble is though that if you need someone to pursuade you, then maybe its not the right deal at the right time for you. When i saw this one i knew it was perfect for me because of the phone i wanted, the minutes & txts i use, the 12 month contract that i desired and not to mention the £130 quidco!!

I would have a think before jumping in, mobile phone contracts are expensive things so you wanna make sure you get it right. I saw that orange are offering £150 quidco on contracts until sunday, but no idea what deals they have or what their customer service is like, never used them before.

If you like gadgets though, definately look out for the N95 8GB, it really is a powerful little handset!!

cheers for the advise, I think it is a smashing deal if the quidco pays out

as I was going to sign up for the sim only deal @ £20 a month and then buy a k850i for £70 which I have been offererd by a freind. therefore after quido the phone would just work out as an extra £10 a month. (£120 in total). This is similar to the sim only except its not unlimted txt...but I would not use more then 500 anyway.

ok I think I am gona go for it after a bit of consideration!

can someone tell me (after I complain) do i get full internet wirelessly on the mobile? or is it just unlimited wap?

ps rep added to scream85

Original Poster

Providing you get the internet added free of charge it is unlimited (up to fair usage of 500mb), which when i asked about this, was to stop people using the mobile as a modem and running the internet through their laptops etc. According to customer services if you go over this usage they do not charge you anymore but you will receive a letter in the post warning you that you are going over the fair usage amount.

I must say though, I have seen on other forums that if you go over the 500mb fair usage, you get charged £2 for every 1mb after that. When i asked vodafone directly about this they said that this was not the case at all, no charge, only a warning letter. Just telling you to be mindful, wouldn;t want anyone to get stung by unwanted bills!

Will regards to the internet itself, if you happen to be near a WLAN at the time of using the internet (i.e. home, work, hotel etc) then you can connect through that at broadband speeds, irrelevant of whether or not you are in a 3G area, and this does not count towards your 500mb usage as you are simply taping into another network wirelessly and using theirs.

Remember, if for any reason you cannot get the free internet thrown in by customer services, you have 14 days to cancel so be careful when you open the box and dont throw any packaging away!! You may need to keep hold of it!.

Let me know how you get on

ok I am going for the phone and going to keep it for 14 days if I dont like it, I will send it back...if I fall in love with it (most likely) then I will keep it.

I was with three mobile. I just phoned them up and they txt me my PAC code straight away. Then when i signed up to vodafone online i entered my PAC code with my order. Ordered phone Friday, phone arrived Monday and the number changed over Monday afternoon.

I believe the transfer itself on average takes 2 working days.

It shouldn't be a problem though....... when ur phone arrives, phone up vodafone and get them to unlock it for you, then put ur current contract sim into the phone while u wait for the number to be transferred over.

Hi Happydays. Mine lasts about 3 days if i use it for calls and the internet, so i tend to charge it up every other day and i always have a car charger in the car, a charger at home and 1 at work so i'm never caught out. If you only use your phone occassionally or for sending txts, it should last a lot longer!! Probably 5 or 6 days.

Nokia's official statistics on the battery life are as follows:

Power Management

Battery: Nokia Battery (BL-6F) 1200mAH
Talk time: up to 210 minutes (WCDMA), up to 300 min (GSM)*
Stand-by time: up to 280 hours (WCDMA and GSM)*

Hope that helps
