Do you need to sign up to 12 month contract
Is it network locked? Is there a way to buy without a 30d contract/ without paying for minimum data pack?

It's advertised as a 'pay monthly' but what is stopping you from buying it and putting a pay as you go Vodafone SIM in it? That will work surely??
Requires a contract - it does appear to be a 30 day rolling though. Options are:

SERVICE TERMS
Service provider Vodafone
Payment method - Rolling contract
Data options - 5 GB: £15 per month
- 15 GB: £20 per month
- 30 GB: £25 per month
- 50 GB: £30 per month

For those that are interested, the device is manufactured by Huawei.
Yes you have to sign up to a Vodafone contract.
Just to warn you, this is a rebadged Huawei product. So likely to be affected by the US Huawei ban. So just be warned, you risk having an obsolete device in just 3 months.
Thanks OP just off to pick mine up.

Only need it for 3 months for temp internet access at remote property.

this device will not be subject to what you are say; a 4g modem router will not suddenly stop working because of Trump's [political] ban
The uncertainty surrounding Huawei’s future and potential desertion by commercial 3rd parties, be it hardware suppliers, mobile networks etc is enough to avoid all Huawei’s products. Unless you are willing to take the risk? What a lot of people don’t understand is, when the US takes a stand the world has to align (unfortunately)!
Huawei won’t be halted by the trump baby weeping.

The risk from this type of product is in fact minimal, voda had to certify the device. even if it was covert device, you'd notice slower speeds or increased usage on your account. It can't steal passwords etc.

It could though log which sites you went to. Which then can be used back as a standard phishing operation so that malware could be injected into your device.

The above is a targeted situation, ie you had to be of some value to the Chinese government.

Nope. Risks ? Like getting it wet or damaging/breaking the radio in a drop.

Oh like Boeing - the world aligned USA into its rightful place, it won’t be signing much off itself ever again, the Empire air carrier brought down the Empire. Now USA is trying to stop a company with bigger mobile market share than Apple.

The world isn’t aligning with USA over Huawei, some are, EU isn’t - the massive German intelligence services asked USA for evidence to evaluate and it was refused. EU still allowing Huawei as a not a continent risk. U.K. security services sign off Huawei firmware on UK devices.

Smoke and mirrors, and Apples.
