Vodafone retention deal - Sim only - unltd mins and texts with 4GB 4G data for £13.50 a month

Found 23rd Sep 2014
Just got off the phone to Vodafone cancellations after asking for my PAC, and they made an offer of unlimited minutes, text and 4GB of 4G internet for £13.50 a month. Apparently this is 50% discount off the normal price.

Works out at £162 for the 12 month contract. Not bad! I'll be sticking with them for a bit longer ;-)

-UPDATE-

Ok, so I had another call with them and got (in addition):

6 months Spotify Premium / Netflix / Sky Sports Mobile (choose one)
& the 1st month free

Was already a Spotify Premium member (£9.99 a month) so I've cancelled that, saving an extra tenner!

Do they offer unlimited wifi(opnezone/BT) with it?

She didn't mention it and I didn't ask to be honest. I don't get it with my previous sim only package, so I would assume not.

Probably not, as this was from the retentions department. It's always worth asking though.

I had same deal and they offered the data test drive for the first 3 months as well

Just got off the phone from Vodafone retention wanted 2 mobile contracts and one sim only for an already owned galaxy note 3
All three contracts are unlimited minutes, unlimited texts, and 4gb of 4g data
Sim only £11.00
Galaxy s5 £28.00
Iphones 5s 16gb £23.00
Thought they where quite good offers but didn't post cause it was through retentions. maybe some good deals around at the moment

They've been doing this for a few months now. Got the package down so just 1GB data for £10.50.

Its the only thing that kept me with them.

@onthelook u got a cracking deal there sim only,

Will call in the morning and see what I can get, think my contracts are expiring in a couple of weeks!

Thanks op

I called as my contract is up and they were useless. Just gave me my PAC and laughed about what was on here.... best they could offer was £16.50 unlimited with 1gb data which is open to everyone.

To be fair I think it always depends. I left t-mobile and after previous calls

Refusing to give anything, they rang and offered me a great deal after I'd signed with someone else.

Offered me the same deal last week. And I got 6 months Netflix free as well

Me and my misses before upgrade with the following deal: 10gb 4G (unlimited for first 3 months), unl min/text, 6months netflix, 12months spotify for £21, works out £252 but if you already pay for netflix (we both did) its a lot cheaper at £132. Pretty happy with it. We was also offered the similar deal but 7gb data for £16.

Is there anyway to get these retention deals when you are not with the company to start with? Open to ridicule I know, but thought I might as well ask as don't want to just have to get ripped off and get a 'normal' tariff.

Wow thank you so much. I read your comment just in time to ask for the unlimited text and minutes and 4 gb data for £13.50 and got it along with 3 months data test drive and 6 months free Netflix :-) I am so pleased

Glad it helped! A lot of people have helped me on this site, so I'm glad I can return the favour :-)

Same here just got offered this deal too but just reading another post that you can get the 7GB data for £16. But not sure if i need that much.

I did the same thing a few months back and got a similar deal, 12 month sim only, unlimited mins / text 5 gig data, 3 month test drive was included also spotify premium for 15.50 a month. They also said I could extend the deal to any of my family. Also worth requesting PAC code then saying you are looking around when they ring you and to ring back in a few days.

Great, if you can ever get a signal from Vodafail.

I think the computer tells them what they can offer and how close you are to leaving. The deals steadily got better.

Don't forget they have all your info, what you use, how long have you been with them.

Why not offer 4gb of data to someone who uses 100mb a month?
Why offer a good deal to someone who is with vodafone for 10 years and always chances it when they phone up for their PAC code before walking into a store and upgrading anyway.
They know where you live and know the coverage, why offer a good deal to you when they know you can't get a decent signal with anyone else.

But if you live in a city centre, moved to them from another network last contract, etc. They do need to offer you a decent deal as they know you'll go elsewhere.

Exactly.
I was offered the same deal to stay a while back. 4GB data would have suited me fine however the signal where i work is deplorable. I switched.
One assumes there was a reason that the OP wanted to quit, hope it was not because of bad signal quality.

Vodafone has 4G? In this area, you struggle to even get 3G. No EDGE either, just plain old 2G or 9.6kbps.

Is this price before tax? I'm on £12.91 pre tax, £15.49 with tax for the same deal. Also got 12 months spotify, though this was in April.

I was offered the 7gb one for £16 I declined and then they said they will credit my account with £14 or £16 (can't remember which one) so my plan works out to be under £15

But yes at times the network is poor, but overall considering the price and amount of data I am happy

My SIM only contract is nearly up too. Wonder what deal they will do me? Currently on unlimited calls/texts, 12GB data, 12 months Spotify & 4G all for £28 per month.

I got the 10.50 (half price 21 quid) deal a couple of months ago.

12 months deal but can upgrade after 6 to lengthen deal or see if there are cheaper iPhone 6 options by then.

Guys, I want to get the Note 4 when it is available. Which option do you think would be cheaper?

1 - Get this deal + the phone sim free later on = 24 x £13.5 = £324 + phone cost (maybe around £500 when available) = total around £824
2 - Wait for the phone to arrive at Vodafone and get it from them = Around £35 a month considering they will offer me some retention deal as last time* = total around £840

*November 2012 I managed to get Note 2 for £28 a month for unlimited minutes/text and 2GB of data = £672 total cost. The original cost of the plan at that time was £42:

Unlimited minutes? When I was on Vodafone I'd be lucky to be able to stay connected for 100 minutes in total a month. They have such a thing as 'sure signal' boxes for a reason - because their network coverage is pretty useless so they need to piggy back on to your own broadband to shore it up..

got a LG G3, 600 minutes unltd texts and 500 MB for £21.7/month.
That fitted my use & budget with a cracking phone.

I called up Vodafone as my contract is up for renewal.
Details
4GB data. Unlimited mins/texts,
6 months subscription - netflix, spotify, sky sports(only one)
3 months free data - data test drive
1 month free
So £13.50 x 11 = £148.50 for contract duration 12 months.

How did you get the extra month free?

if only they had decent coverage...

I referred to the other deal by Virgin Media which is £8 something/month and unlimited data/minutes, 1 GB of data. So this retention team person on call put me on hold for 5 minutes of so and came back with a cherry on top offer. He offered me 1 month free over and above the deal; which I happily accepted

I got offered the same deal when I asked for my PAC code.

Does anyone elses signal stay around 1-2 bars most of the time when indoors?

In my house generally signal stays around 2 bars, but even with just 2 bars my call never gets disconnected and in fact voice quality is a lot better than 3 mobile(other contract).

Got offered this with 3 months unlimited data, three months free and 6 months of Spotify/Netflix/Sky Sports and a Vodafone Europe passport.

I dont have an issue with the call quality either. Much better than TMobile. I just understand why the signal is so low. I very rarely have 4 bars

Were each of these 12 month contracts?? Fantastic deal if so...

Maybe I will reassess my standard operating procedure of twisting the Voda retention team's arm for good deals on three sim only contracts + buying 1 or 2 sim free phones every year and go along the above route in the future.

One of the poorer networks for overall coverage, though it obviously depends on your local config.
