I have been looking ever since i purchaed my Blackberry Bold 9700 for a free turn by turn sat nav.

vfuk.navigator.telmap.com/vfuk/

Copy this address into your phone's browser which gives you the software with no need of purchase. It is a Vodafone SatNav by Telmap. No signs of a trial, mine has been working since January and a freind of mine for a year now.

It also has traffic updates which comes in handy. This does use the internet to download the route so i will recommend you have an internet package.

Phone models it supports:

Blackberry
BlackBerry® Curve 8110 smatrphone
BlackBerry® Curve 8310 smatrphone
BlackBerry® Bold 9000 smartphone
BlackBerry® Bold 8900 smatrphone

Nokia
Nokia E71

HTC
HTC Diamond

I have not tried other models, however if you have the Blackberry 9700, select the 8900 and it works perfectly.

EDIT: Not only for Vodafone customers, you can be on any network.

This works fine with the nokia E51 too and an extrenal GPS

Oh wow. thanks for that!

lets hope its not the 14day trial

has anyone got this to work on a Nokia E72?

it's free so can't be bad. I'm going to give it a go...cheers!

hey installed this on my curve and i can confirm you dont have to use it on vodafone as i have my tmobile sim card in my handset. However this is just a 30 day trial so its a waste of time in my opinion.

It states nowhere its a 30 day trial. Iv had mine running for months

Thanks for posting this. Have installed on my 9700 (on O2) but get "Sorry, request not included in your subscription" whenever I try to do anything so doesnt appear to work for all.

works on my 9700 on o2 and im a novice when it comes to things like this

Did you choose 8900 (due to screen size)

i did yes 8900 as it said to do that as op also has 9700

cool!

Works on the SE Xperia X1 (windows 6.1) on vodafone. I have the basic version (find and go) and it would cost me £5 a month to upgrade, so I getting it free - happy days.

You have to select HTC Diamond - I think it uses the same windows system.

think itll work on most windows OS phones by going on HTC one

Will this work on any other make of phone?

Does it need a GPS signal and therefore do you not need to pay for that?

awww.. no luck for HTC Hero users... only HTC DIAMOND

Works on my Nokia N96 with O2 but not on my Acer f900 wm6.1 (tbh the Acer f900 can be a git!).

So thankyou... H+R added

all the supported phones listed have built in GPS and no, its like a navigation system, no need for the internet for it to work, it works by communicating with the satellites, however it needs to connect to the internet to download your route. But that only takes a few seconds(depending on the speed of your internet) then your journey will be internet free (but make sure to turn off the traffic updates if you dont want it to access the internet. this could be done in the settings).

I believe if the phone make and model are similar to the ones listed above it may work, but no promises. The phone models listed are fully supported though.

Steve

JUST TRIED IT ON MY NOKIA N95 8GB AND WORKS REALLY WELL. AND ITS FREE.... WOW !!

I'M ON O2...with unlimited internet..

GREAT FIND.. COOL !!!

TRAFFIC UPDATES TOO.....

(internet access is required. So GREAT for those who have FREE internet)

H&R added....

Great found!

Awesome Sat Nav and free as well! H&R added!

Working fine on my BB9700, O2 contract. (Although the traffic report never works for me, maybe just my poor signal)

For those of you who has BlackBerry and claim it doesn't work, make sure you have a properly activated BlackBerry BIS data plan and NOT normal Internet bolt-on; The 3G and EDGE symbol on top right hand of the screen should be in all capital, if not then you haven't got the correct plan.

Works on my XDA Zest 6.1 Windows Mobile and I'm on O2.

Rep left. Thanks.

Nice find OP heat and rep added.

Edit: Googled my silly question!

Cheers OP

Nice find OP heat and rep added. Question - I have Unlimited Blackberry … Nice find OP heat and rep added. Question - I have Unlimited Blackberry and also have Vodafone unlimited Internet...is there are chance that by using the GPS built in on my 9700 that I would go over the 500MB monthly usage allowance? Thanks in advance.

500MB monthly usage --- lol so much for unlimited Internet

Anyway, to answer your question, I have been testing this Sat Nav app on my BB 9700, it seems that when you plan a route it downloads the map dynamically of that particular route only, average download is about 40KB per route, obviously it depends on the length of the route as well.

So I would say you are safe with the 500MB usage allowance.

Original Poster

Yes your right, it only downloads the route you enter, this is so it saves you on space otherwise you would need a lot of space to save the whole map on your phone.

Doesn't work on HTC magic - great post though

would it work on a n95 on o2 ?

works perfectly on 8310, heat and rep added

Works fine on Nokia E75 on 3
Thanks
