Just noticed that the price has dropped to £25.00. Nothing spectacular but not bad as a first phone or a back up phone for the money. 99p for an unlock code from eBay.

Blurb:

An affordable introduction to the world of Smartphones, the Vodafone Smart first 6 is easy to use and has all the features you'd expect from a Smartphone - at a price you wouldn't.

Smart but simple

Designed specifically to be easy to use, the Smart first 6 has a simple home screen with all the features you need. You're only ever one tap away from making a call, sending a text or email, taking a photo or browsing the web.

Stay connected

The Smart first 6 comes with Facebook and Twitter already installed - so you can update your status, catch up with the latest gossip and stay in touch with all your friends and family, straight out of the box.

Access to thousands of apps

The Smart first 6 runs Android - the world's most popular operating system - which gives you access to thousands of apps through the Google Play Store. So whether you're a fan of games, social media, music or movies, there's an app for everyone.

Why Vodafone?

Our outstanding network gives you excellent UK coverage for calls, texts and mobile broadband - indoors and out. We build our network so that signals from our masts overlap each other. It means you get fewer dropped calls and better mobile broadband. We focus on giving you a strong signal indoors and outside - unlike some operators who concentrate on spreading their signal over the widest area. We're the network of choice for many of the UK's emergency services. Ambulance, police and fire services know they can rely on us. We make sure you get the fastest service possible - even at the busiest times of the day - thanks to the extra capacity we build into our network.

Features:

- Dimensions: 121.6 x 64.4 x 11.8 (mm)
- Weight: 112g
- Operating System: Andorid 4.4
- Screen: 4 inch, Touchscreen, WQHD
- Camera: 2 Megapixels, Auto-focus, Self-timer

Can't personally comment on the Ultra 6 the previous poster mentioned.
However indoors the First 6 isn't great, outside it's pretty good for a 2 megapixel unit though.

Stick a SIM card in and you have a cheap MP3 player that is also a phone.

Worth it for that alone so you dont have to take your expensive one to the beach etc.

how would this perform as a dedicated satnav utilising the here maps app from the playstore?

do you have a link for where to find the unlock code

cheers for the help. in the market for a new satnav and thought the added option of phone and mp3 player would make more sense.

is this better than lumia 435 as a first phone for 11 year old?

It depends if that 11 year old needs Snapchat. If not, the experience with the Lumia is vastly better, as Windows Phone runs very well on low spec hardware.

The Smart First 6 is slow and can be unresponsive at times. The specs simply aren't good enough to run android properly.

... and they forget that an iPhone for £25 all in isn't an option :-(

Save the wasted £25 and save up for something that is actually of use for more than 3 months. Buy cheap buy twice

Original Poster

What a pile of ridiculous comments. It's clearly a first phone, a backup up phone, or a phone for people who won't be hammering it by playing the latest graphic intensive games. Seriously.

Banned

on Argos it says the phone has a quad core processor

Just be aware
- The RAM is only 512MB.
- 3G not 4G
- Internal Storage 3GB
- Dual core of 1GHZ (not quad core)

It is suitaable for kid. So if they drop or loose it, the parent have very little to loose ....
For adult, well it is suitable for spare phone and if time is not your concern ....

no front facing camera?

I find the phone quite responsive after removing the Facebook app and using the browser instead. It seems as usual that the memory hogging Facebook app causes a lot of issues

Nice one. I detest Facebook so no loss there IMHO. An easy sacrifice.

Have you handled one?
If not how can you actuallyKNOW that ?

It's been £25 direct from Vodafone for a few weeks, since they released the Smart Speed 6. I know some don't like dealing with Vodafone but it's an alternative if needed.

Its a phone.Used as a phone it will be no different to an iPhone or a Blackberry. If you desire something other than a phone, something that replaces a satnav or games console or on line film streaming then by all means buy something that costs more than £25.
