i thought that at first but then i clicked vodafone and it took me through the stages to see if i was eligible for an upgrade unfortunately i wasn't but if you have any vodafone sims knocking around just try them every phone i have had on an upgrade from cpw has been unlocked to any network it won't give you the option to buy until you have qualified

The wife is eligible for a Vodafone upgrade. Took it right through to basket and got the following message...

Sorry, looks like we need to restock the shelves so we've had to empty your basket, check back soon.

Never mind. Thanks OP. Still a good spot.

Can you not get much better phones 'free' on a contract than this?

My sister-in-law recently dropped her Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 and shattered the screen. Amazingly it still works but obviously it looks terrible. She's on a resticted budget and is on Three's 321 cheapo PAYG. I just thought this was a nice way to use the wife's upgrade to get the s-i-l a free phone. Shame it didn't work but it was deffo worth a go.

What I mean mate, and maybe I'm missing something, is most handsets are 'free', but a portion of your monthly cost is actually paying for it. Again, maybe I have the wrong end of the stick?

You get eligiblity for this even if you use a simple Vodafone PAYG SIM. The wife's not a big user but she does put the occasional fiver's worth on it and that seems to be enough to qualify. So in this specific case, the phone would truly be 'free' (except it would be if they had any in stock!).

this phone has only 4gb internal memory and is useless as a modern smarphone

not really it's ok for those who browse use for emails fb whatsapp etc etc they don't need loads of memory I know people using phones with 512mb memory and they still work fine although they have started struggling with them know sometimes they need delete and re install certain apps .

its £20 if you want one outright

had a Vodafone sim for over 6 months and topped up and made 3 chargeable events, tried see if I could upgrade last night online said no so called in to the local store this morning couldn't upgrade, and wouldn't tell me why :@
