Yes, fibre to the street cabinet, and then adsl from the cabinet to your house, not everyone had their street dug up...
Be very careful regarding the vouchers. Twice now I've been stiffed with these types of deals, once by BT, once by Vodafone.

Understand there's people who get the vouchers no problem, but beginning to believe they'll pull anything to get out of fulfilling the voucher promise.

The Vodafone customer service itself was OK when I had a fault, but no refund for the service outage and low speeds, despite their promises on the app!

Very frustrating. The whole "3rd party voucher" is an infuriating defence. Seems to be becoming common place

I had an OpenReach engineer out a week ago. He couldn't find anything wrong and put it down to the long distance from the green fibre distribution box. ( I live down a long drive). I'm getting a new Vodafone router delivered today, so will see how that goes. I'm out of my contract term with Vodafone, so can leave at anytime. In the meantime, I'm getting the discounted monthly charge for them not meeting their guaranteed minimum speed. It's never been as bad as this though.

My worry is that in moving to a new supplier, they're still using the same comms path and I could end up paying more for the same service.

If it's gotten suddenly worse then something must have changed, it's down to OpenWorld to find it. Harass Vodafone.

I guess a new supplier has more of an incentive to fix the issue as they know they'll lose you (and they've incurred the signup costs).

They're awful. Avoid like the plague.
Didn't receive my £100 Amazon Card in last year's deal and they still haven't bothered to check it out. Woeful customer service and internet drops every hour.
Can this offer be combined with Vodafone's own "Vodafone Together" discount of £2/£3 for having a Vodafone Mobile contract?

Have you checked your router manager to see if you're connected to 2.4ghz instead of 5ghz. I did this with BT the other day, and solved ALL my problems. Speeds went through the roof.
Awesome jus in time!!!!

Thanks, tried all permutations without making a difference. New router just arrived, so will try that when I have time later.
Guessing may be worth for some - for me turned out to be complete waste of time.

Ordered their “Superfast” broadband few weeks back with guaranteed speed of 73 mbps which was also confirmed in the letter few days after. Once connected, line synced at 48 mbps then 55 and stayed there. Complained few times on the chat and been told just to give it some more time. After a week finally had engineer booked in to diagnose the fault but received a phone call instead stating nobody will be coming over and line will stay at 55 mbps - take it or leave it. No further attempts to solve the situation or mention about possible discounts. Worth noting, I did not ask about it myself as the speed is more important to me, but pretty sure could negotiate if I wanted to. Lady on the phone actually said "The good news is - you can move somewhere else" YAY, why won’t they make that a main selling point? Waste of time for me, currently waiting to be connected to Sky.

Another thing to add – sync speed is stable at 55 mbps and I do get transfer rates over 6 MB/s most times apart from the evenings when it can go as low as 2.5 MB/s. Never happened with BT, my previous provider.
We have same broadband and quite dissapointed as after half year they inceased price and my speed were gapped and now sync speed get down too. Save you hassle if you not go with voda unless you want to sort speed every month as they gapping your connection

I've been very happy with the service since switching in September last year. Getting 76 Meg and no slow downs at peak. A lot of the complaints are from those with the old router, the new one hasn't missed a beat for me. I was dubious myself, but glad I made the move. Oh and I got a £100 gift card and the echo dot as promised.

I've found them to be pretty good. As long as the phone cabling to your house is all good, they're as a good as any other mainstream provider. They don't have a UK based support centre, but they're fairly polite and will escalate issues if needed.

The best provider I've dealt with was Be-Unlimited, but they've 'be'en swallowed up by Sky. If you want very good tech support there's Zen, but they charge far too much.

Never again BT.
Sky were ok, but nothing spectacular.
SSE, were ok, but again, nothing spectacular.

The Vodafone router they're shipping out these days, is much better than before, so the reviews you may have seen may be a combination of cabling specific problems plus the poorly specced Huawei router they were supplying up until Sept/Oct last year.

IF you can, get BT OpenReach to fit a twin outlet master socket to avoid the cheapo filters in the box.

I'm getting stable results for a month now since renewing,
39842355-7KY3k.jpg
...and that's with a recognised problem to the streetside cabinet that's due an upgrade.

If your getting bad speeds from virgin phone them up and ask them what the utilisation level is in your area. If it's high and your speeds are low your entitled to money off your bill. Make sure to ring back every month it's not fixed though. Tell your neighbors to do the same or they most likely won't bother to fix it.

Family in Inverness say it's a massive improvement on Sky, and family in Edinburgh report no problems; was looking at vodafone myself but Virgin offered 50% price cut if I stayed.

I got my £100 Amazon card and the free echo dot 3. Has no issues myself and connection speed has been great.

Poor. I'm currently getting 300mb from BT for £18pm. 😜
I'll share my expereince of Vodafone recently.

Was with BT, had a stable 68mbps connection. Moved to Vodafone, things were unstable at first as it kept trying to force a 72mbps connection that my line could not support. Complained about that and then resolved the issue (eventually), moving the connection profile to a slower one.

Uptime is now in the months, rather than hours.
Buy Vodafone at your peril.

Sounds about right from Vodafone.

He’s on an upto 35mbps package and getting 33.4mbps download / 14mbps upload. Can’t get much better than that!

I’ve been with Vodafone for a few months now and not had any issues with them. Decent speeds, good price and got the voucher without any fuss.
One look at Vodafone's trustpilot reviews should put anyone off this.
Failing that - look at last month's Ofcom report showing their complaint levels.
Ordered this. Lets see how it is

Because broadband is junk in the UK unless you live in a big city or get lucky and they pick your village to stick in Fibre. I'd love to get 50Mb+ and I live in a small town not far from Southampton in a big estate! I'm lucky to get over 20Mb and I'm sure others will be on far less. I can't get decent 4G either (~8Mb)

What’s your upload speed? 5mbps? I get 80/20 profile and get 65/15 actual speed. 5mbps is unworkable if you need to work from home.
