  • UK data, minutes and textsAn allowance to use data, call standard UK mobiles and landlines (starting 01, 02 or 03), and standard texts to UK mobiles – when using your mobile in the UK. You can also make calls to 08 and 118 numbers, but these aren’t included in your plan, so please remember that they are subject to an additional charge. You can find more information on this in the Additional Charges table.
  • Network Satisfaction GuaranteeWe’re the only network to guarantee your satisfaction. Whether you’re a new or existing customer, if you’re not happy with your experience, just tell us.
  • Data cappingThe data cap is designed to prevent you from running up extra costs once you’ve reached your monthly data limit. To make it easy for you to keep track of the data you’re using, we’ll text you when you’ve used up most of your data, and again when you’ve reached your allowance. Then your data cap kicks in to stop you from using any more. Need more data? Check out all the options by logging in online or heading to the My Vodafone app.
  • UK planVodafone Basics plans are for use in the UK. Roaming is unavailable on all Vodafone Basics SIMs as standard. Only emergency calls are available abroad.
  • TetheringYour Vodafone Basics SIM can be used to share your device’s data allowance with another device at no extra charge. You can even tether or hotspot all of your data to other devices if you want.
  • Changing your planVodafone Basics plans can be upgraded once your 12-month contract ends, or you can swap to another SIM only plan at any point during your 12-month contract. All SIM only plans are eligible, so if you’re looking for something that isn’t included with Vodafone Basics, take a look at our SIM only plans page for more plans, and even more options.
  • What’s not included? If you don’t use it, you shouldn’t have to pay for it. But if you're wondering if there’s anything you’d miss, make sure you’ll be happy without the features listed below:

    • Roaming and international calls are not available with Vodafone Basics – only emergency calls are available abroad with this plan
    • Premium calls starting 09, Premium messages, MMS, M-Pay (or mobile payment software), and calls and outgoing messages with adult content are barred
    • Upgrades aren’t available during your plan, but you can switch to another SIM only or Vodafone Basics plan
    • Extras aren’t compatible, with the exception of Data and 08 number minute Extras
    • Vodafone Passes aren’t compatible
For plans that include these features, take a look at our SIM only plans page

Thanks for posting but this is a bad deal. 500mb is not enough data even for light use really and the price is too much.

Last year I got 3GB, unlimited texts + 2500 mins for £8 per month, for comparison.
Happy with my id mobile £5 for 2.25 gig data
I recently got a virgin 12 months sim with 1gb, 1000mins and unlt text for £4.00 pm, £48 for the year
Giff gaff has unlimited minutes and texts with 3GB data for £10 per month and no contract
Voted hot @Bowler_man because I don't want the data but do need the unlimited minutes.

It’s cold because there are better £5 deals out there for years. Now dry your eyes.
For what it is, with unlimited calls and if Vodafone is a preferred network, but data isn't needed much, then this is a good deal.

However, a word of warning is that these Vodafone Basics tariffs are new and not well known about within Vodafone. Officially you cannot get to it through TCB. You can go via Uswitch and I think there is at least one other way in.

I helped order one for my mum a few days ago (she never uses any data up to now, but we agreed to go with 3GB/£8pm to encourage her to start using without fear of running out). She is limited to either Vodafone for SureSignal, or EE for WiFi calling. Other networks are no good for where she lives.

While we had the order confirmation email, there was nothing since. The web tracker now shows the order does not exist and when she phoned Vodafone, the staff denied these were valid tariffs, tried to sort something manual out, but gave up. We've decided to ignore for now, renew the PAYG for another month and keep an eye out for something better.

We did have the £7pm deal from mobiles.co.uk in mind, but that was withdrawn just before we decided to go ahead.

We got web order numbers by email when we ordered. The other way to get the offer with TCB is. Use the link in TCB, then select sim only, when the page loads just add \basics to the URL and it will display the deals.

If you ring them they are not interested as its web orders only on these deals. Hope this helps.

When are we moving to the new HHUKD site? HotHistoricalUKDeals.com
For anybody considering this deal you should be aware that a Vodafone Basics sim cannot be used abroad
