Gummidges not Gummidge's man. If you are going to have a go, make sure you are fireproof first (pun intended).

This one appears to be better than the 24.99 one
I had a work zone one today from Aldi it was half price at £12.99. Not sure if it’s going to be any good but took a punt at £12.99
How do these compare with the valiant range? In particular the remora stove pipe fan. I was thinking a brand name could be more reliable and effective, but if not this is much more cost effective. Any advice would be appreciated!

    We have it, it's great
OK so what exactly is the benefit here - doesn't hot air rise and circulate anyway ?

Yes it does. But it will tend to rise in a vertical direction then only sink when cooler. This convection current tends to follow walls and ceilings.
This fan encourages the warmer air to be distributed horizontally before rising. Which helps in the comfort factor.

All depends if he took it somewhere to experience the pleasure of giving, in which case he's spot on.

    Unlikely though...

By allowing for greater airflow, an increased amount of oxygen will be present leading to heightened efficiency of the combustion reaction. Completely a statement of fact

It works in the same way a fan oven cooks food quicker than a standard oven. It really does increase efficiency.
how many people actually use this kind of oven to warrant the heat on this thread?!? Clearly the fan is helping circulate some heat!

It doesn't increase the oxygen available in the stove for combustion, it merely changes the direction of the warm air rising from the stove; the velocity of the air therefore increases and air density and temperature reduce. Although the fan will redirect warm air towards the occupants of the room, it will have no effect on the calorific output of the stove!

A fan assisted oven is more efficient at cooking food by circulating hot air around the item you want to cook, but it's no more efficient at heating the oven space than a conventional oven.
Blah blah blah these efficiency pedants are something else. It’s obvious, stop being obtuse. If you own a stove and don’t have one then get one, either this or another.
    Site is down I think
If you think that it's pedantic to object to a product advertised on a lie, perhaps you'd like to purchase one of VWs environmentally friendly diesels!
When our stove is on, its too hot. When its off its too cold.
    Works well with my i7
If It is so good and efficient wouldn’t a Stove come with one of these Fans fitted as standard?

Categorically untrue. You said yourself, the air is accelerated away from the stove, which means that air within the stove is also exiting at an increased rate. Of course he calorific output will increase as maximum efficiency is gained by combustion in an excess of oxygen, and unsurpringly a higher throughput of air will provide more oxygen.
The volume of air that these fans can move is minimal. (I had one identical to this and was very disappointed). Suggest you consider a decent ceiling fan instead - these you can use in winter and summer, without the stove being lit.

I tried it yestarday and got the same problem, it's live again now
From the pics, this looks like it came out the same factory as the Aldi Workzone fan. I have the Aldi one which works very well. Better, in fact, than a friends, who has a much more expensive branded version and sadly, much better than my home made one.

Why does a fan oven require a lower temperature when cooking?
    Because it's more efficient.
Got this one - works well looks good and great price
Would this work on a portable gas heater like this one:
