Easy Operation

Simply fill the cooking pot with your required amount of rice, add water and fix the lid. The cook time will be determined by the amount of food and water in the machine, so there’s no need to set a cooking time or temperature. Measuring is simple too – one cup of rice requires one cup of water.

Once the machine has finishing cooking it will automatically switch to ‘keep warm’ mode, so you can enjoy your perfectly cooked rice whenever you’re ready.

Versatile

Do these really produce near perfect rice compared to a saucepan?

Do these really produce near perfect rice compared to a saucepan?

If you can get the ratios and time right with a saucepan then this won't be any better. This takes the cooking temp and time out of the equation so all you need to consider is how much rice and water.

So this can do pasta also?

No, that would scorch and vurn,. You need a lot of water to properly cook pasta
300ml is tiny. For this price there are often better deals for bigger rice cookers.
I have one of these, fine for 2-3 people with a reasonable portion size. I always use a 1 cup rice, 2 cups water ratio. Works great every time. Very easy to clean non-stick coating.
It mentions steamer, can you use this to steam veggies

I've always gone 1:2 when making 1 cup of rice, used to work well with my previous rice cookers so I just continued with that. If you are making more than 1 cup, the pot isn't large enough to get a 1:2 ratio but the rice still cooks well.
Making perfect rice is simple.

Rinse the rice with cold water till it runs clear to get rid of extra starch that can make rice sticky; I use a glass bowl so I can see how cloudy the water is; just empty and repeat as many times as necessary.

Use a pan with a tight fitting lid; glass lids are best as you can see what's happening.

I then melt butter in the pan (use oil if you wish) add the rice and coat the grains!

Turn it off and use it when you want; when ready then add double the amount of cold water (must be cold) and put the lid on and turn the heat on till the water boils, then turn it down to it's lowest setting; when there is no visible liquid present turn off the heat and leave for 5; then fluff up and serve!

Just bring it to the boil in a pot of water (slightly salted) and set it on the side for 11 minutes.
