At most prices you end up with compromises unless spending thousands and around circa £300 I see no offering of anything better fork wise.

XCM isn't bottom of the range from Suntour. Admittedly it is not as good as the next step up to the Raidon that is included in the Voodoo Bizango although, at best that bike, is rarely below £500 and that part costs £150 on its own. If you can show me a bike around £300 with that or a better fork that is useable I would be interested?

This or the Vulcan?
It's a great bike for the price. Picked one up at the start of the week with the 15% code and BCM discount. Can't go wrong for the £300 mark
Suntour chainrings are made of cheese. Expect them to warp quickly and never be able to straighten them again. That's why they're cheap
How do I get the extra discounts??

CYCLING15 should still be working for 15% off. Takes it lower than OP has suggested if it does work

Ah that's a shame. They must have timed the £90 discount on this with the end of that promotion as I only look at this a couple of days ago

Only £20 difference for the GT Avalanche from Winstanley - admittedly only medium left in stock as has been offer for a while

Biggest differences between the two is the Shimano vs Clarkes hydraulics, the Deore vs Altus Rear Derailleur, the Alivio vs Acera shifters and being a triple has a 44/32/22 vs 36/22 whilst matching the rear cassette ratios (greater top end range).

They always tell me in store that the BCM discount doesn't stack with any other offers. Checking the Ts and Cs they are right but it seems like lots of people still manage to get it.

How did you manage to get both?

Any thing from Halfords I order through Quidco for click and collect and apply codes. Then present my AA voucher (10% as per BC) and get some more off. My local branch don't seem to mind.

The cycling15 code works when there's no other offers I have found. I.e. Wait until the flash sale is over and it'll work again. Probably.
Hi I was looking at getting the Carrera Vulcan. Can I ask peoples advice if this voodoo would be a better option than the Vulcan. Thanks
Bought a second hand one for £200 two weeks ago. Well gutted. Great deal. Excellent bike. Hurray for one cog at the front

Sorry I can't compare the two, but I recently bought this voodoo and am well happy with it, absolutely faultless bike for the price. I paid £200 for it second hand in excellent condition. But would definitely recommend this at the price for a new bike.

i cant show you one as i cant be arsed but you only have to look at last years models or a used once/twice then lost interest private sale, stretching your budget. i never said it was a bad bike, and it is a decent deal for what it is.. No, you dont have to pay £1000s, if you enjoy riding this one at this price then the first upgrade is nice FOX air forks.. and again, nearly new for £200.
Regarding the suntours, they should of made it rigid, at least the bike would been lighter.

Nonsense. If it was rigid it would basically be a very heavy cross bike. The forks will do what will be required for a beginner mountain biker, they're not going to be hitting the slopes of the Whistler. FOX forks on an entry level mountain bike?? Aye right lol. You obviously don't know much about the different markets in biking.

Hi all, I'm 6ft4 and a total novice but assume the 22" frame is the one for me... Also, I have the British Cycling membership... Does anyone know if I can use the code here and then present my card in Halfords for a further 10% off? Thanks!

My thoughts are, we surely aren't alone in this universe, it's huge... It must be like the size of Wales or something. Also if we were invaded by a race of super-pelicans would they empty the sea of fish with their modified beaks made of an alien metal that we've not yet discovered on earth... And perhaps if we were to defeat the pelicans we could use that special metal to make technological advancements, like a camping mug that doesn't get so hot that you can't hold it straight away.
