VooDoo Hoodoo Mountain Bike 2013/2014 - 10% off with possible extra 13% off £449.99 @ Halfords

I've been looking for a bike for my brother and have read nothing but rave reviews for the Voodoo Hoodoo. For the price of £500 you could get little better. Halfords have reduced it by 10% to £449. If you're a British Cycling member you can get an additional 10% off. Run the order through Quidco and another 3% back or 3.15% with TopCashBack.

What Mountain Bike had this to say - "An extremely well equipped trail bike with an excellent 120mm-travel fork. Possibly the best £500 mountain bike we’ve tested"

Review here - bikeradar.com/mtb…194

Works out about £392 if you can get the full discount.

Heat from me .
I bought a Voodoo Bizango from Halfords and found the customer service excellent.
I think Halfords are really making an effort to improve their image.
Excellent bike and even better if you could get it through a cycle to work scheme to avoid paying the tax!!

good bike - I have one, so biased
read a lot of reviews before buying it last year and these were one of the best at the £500 price point

Interested to know peoples thoughts on this .. I'm looking for a new MTB and not sure whether to get something around this price mark, or spend a bit more rather than pay for possible upgrades later

If joining BC to get the extra 10% use code CS13 it reduces the bronze membership to £10.33 from £15.00. Signing up to Direct Debit gives another 10% reducing membership to £9.30.

I have the voodoo bantu great bikes

I was going to ask how the Voodoo Bantu 11/12 compares to this. I understand some of the components on the Hoodoo 13/14 have been downgraded but the price is the same as the 11/12 version. Was thinking of the 11/12 Bantu instead. Any advice anyone?

not sure what you would be upgrading, the spec is decent IMO; only thing I changed, was to put on some nukeproof electrons

(mine is the 2012 model)

Anyone any thoughts on this? I've just ordered the Hoodoo 2013/14 but may swap my order if what LINGY96 says is correct.

here's the 2012 spec to compare link

I've got one of these, Great bike at a very good price:D

I too went with the Bantu 11/12 recently as I couldn't really afford the Hoodoo 11/12. I bought mine In July and at that time Halfords didn't have either bike in the 13/14 spec. Like others, I read that the 13/14 spec bikes were built with downgraded parts from the 11/12 and therefore not worth going for the newer bike. Both 11/12 versions are highly rated in the price bracket and coming top of consumer reviews.
I think you will be very pleased with whichever one you choose especially with the British Cycling Club discount when then can also be used throughout the store and not just on bike stuff. Once signed up, contact them and they will send you a temporary membership card to use in store and remember to print the discount voucher out as my store won't take it in a digital format.

Join seloc.org , the Lotus Owners club and get 10% off Halfords vouchers. Then pay with those to save even more.

Thanks, I might take the plunge on a Bantu 11/12 as i don't like the idea of paying the same for less.

You could do the same with the Bantu and get it cheaper still. Win win in my eyes

I don't know if anyone is aware of this but, the review posted up there isn't for this bike, it's for their older model which had better specs than this one.

The differences are - suspension is coil instead of air and no remote lock-out.

Only small differences but it seems a shame that the price is the same but the bike has lower specs .

no way I wanted the lock out as I want to also use this as a road bike to keep fit.

I have the 2012 model which is a great bike for the money especially as I only paid a tad over £400 for mine as it had been on display in Halfords and was a trifle dusty and lacking the toe clips. If I had to choose between the current model and the Bantu I would go for the Bantu as the spec is not a lot less but the price is much lower. You also get the bonus of an air suspended fork.
