I picked mine up yesterday, its a store specific deal as its been removed from the internet but is still available in some stores on halfords systems, if theres not one close to you ask if they can get it sent to a local store, worked for me.
Its the best £499 hardtail on the market by far, looks great in the bare alloy frame and has superb components , the forks alone are worth almost the cost of the bike.
Its also worth mentioning i saved another £50 with my British cycling 10% discount.....
140mm RockShox Revelation RL air suspension fork helps ease technical trails
Lockout and through axle offers a stable ride when riding flat terrain
Shimano Deore XT 30 speed gearing with let you take on challenging rides

Avid Elixir R hydraulic disc brakes provide responsive braking when needed most
Maxxis Minion DHF & DHR 26" x 2.35" tyres offer bite on loose ground
Alex SX44 double wall rims with protected bearing hubs
Lightweight 7005 double butted aluminium frame is quick on both climbs and descents with a high strength to weight ratio

Got one reserved, nice find. Manager was gobsmacked at the price when he ran it through the system.

Nice one mate, don't forget if you spend 15 quid on a British cycling membership you will get another £50 off so an effective saving of another £35

Is it the current model, Image and link above are 2011 I think.

Good spec for £499

Already done

Did you just give them your membership number or do you get a card when you join? Only joined this morning.

Ignore me just reread the email. I see the card comes in 10-14 days. Hope they will accept my confirmation email if I print that off.

A bit weighty at over 13kg but according to the reviews a decent ride.

Decent frame, brakes, shifters and you could save a bit of weight and upgrade hefty wheels/chainset in the future if you wanted.

Hot from me.

And this has an RRP of £999 so for that price is a bit chubby.

They wouldn't accept my confirmation email when I bought the Bantu a month or so back, but if you ring the British cycling club, they will send you a temporary membership card by email which was ok to use.

Reserved mine and just picked it up. Used my BC membership confirmation to get 10% off.just need to get it home and assembled now. Thanks OP

None anywhere near me and I'm also told there's only display models left

Found two of those down south , but as it's made up they don't transfer between stores.. if it was boxed they might

Ho hum... Good luck to those that got 'em..and nice deal OP...

I managed to get a boxed one from Tunbridged Wells which I'm just putting together now. There was another bike at Maidstone but I'm unsure if that is a display model or not but would be worth a call to find out.

The one I have reserved is the last ex-display. Not the end of the world, can't imagine it has had much abuse.

Hopefully it won't be like the display bikes I saw in Cheltenham a few weeks back. Knackered front forks, hydrualic breaks just left dangling on the tube, flat tyres...
After speaking to customer services, they say that all display bikes should be in a rideable condition.

I own this bike. I payed £700 from halfords 2 years ago because of a price mixup.

The components are very high quality, the ride is excellent although the brakes on mine resonate badly when they get wet.I thought the frame was anodized, its not, its a type of paint as it can be scratched off. Most of all the name makes me laugh / cry when I look at it, although its not too noticeable. Love this bike.......

Can't go wrong for the money

Went to one store that had it and it was sold when I got there so now getting a display one from another store. Bike is a flipping bargain. My only problem is I've got four bikes now and live in a tiny house.

There must be a way of joining them all together then you would be one up on The Goodies!

anyone know what stores still have these left??

when I was ringing round Saturday it was Hayes and an Enfield for two that had out front bikes, ... think it was Enfield assured me it had only gone out front a few days ago and was in A1 knick...
The other guy told me they could 'deal' if it wasn't..

shame they were too far for me ..
Annoyed I read the bike deals just before this was posted and didn't see it for a good few hours later

Hope this helps..

Call your local store and get them to check which are the nearest stores to you that have this bike in stock. The only way I could have found out about my bike was by calling my local store who advised me where I could pick mine up as it was in the stock room.

My god the gears are amazing on this compared to the sram crap I've got on my other more expensive mtb.

Not a nice experience buying from the halfords I had to go because my local one didn't have any, never again. The women that served me was just useless, sold me wrong size innertubes, charged me for two bikes and nearly rung the police on me because she forgot to put some accessories through. I think I got flashed by a gatso and wasted £20 on petrol driving back to return the accessories, I guess it was my fault for not realising until she called me.

Very happy with this bike.

called local store today. they kindly checked the system and said there is no more stock in entire company.:(

Asked around London stores, apparently non have it - but it could be the staff are a bit clueless to figure it out..

if anyone knows of stores around lOndon taht have a smallish frame do ping me!

Thanks!

So, I have signed up to hukd to say thank you to manimal_GB for posting this deal, I very happily bought my Wanga last week for the same price as the Hoodoo I originally planned on buying.

I initially phoned Halfords to ask if there were any Wanga's in stock in the WM area, to which he replied "completely sold out across the company" I went to my local Halfords to buy the Hoodoo & as I browsed the store they had a Wanga on display advertised at £999. I asked the shop assistant if the bike was half price & he said no, when I asked him to double check for me, he assured me it wouldn't be & reluctantly went out the back to find out. He came out and told me I am indeed correct but the bike is reserved (to a member of staff) as was the Bokor (which was also half price btw). He (again reluctantly) done a quick check on the system and found one Wanga locally at the Erdington store, boxed :-D I could not believe my luck!!!

Well I am now the proud owner of my Wanga & after 10yrs since I last rode a bike, I'm loving it!

Thanking you kindly

Ps: I got the bike for £450 with an extra 10% off using my British Cycling discount
