Pity the brackets are plastic not aluminium like the blades, where i would want to put that gets some very strong winds pessimistic about plastic last a single winter lol

I've fitted a few of these; the first was around 8 years ago. The plastic brackets are composite plastic and have a weighty look and feel. Made out of similar composite plastic to bollards etc. I drive past that first one almost daily it's exposed to the weather and it looks just like the day it was fitted. The top is Polycarbonate so will weather This can be massively reduced by applying silicone spray, wd 40, furniture polish etc now and then just do it like you would furniture . spry on and wipe back off . do this at the start of every summer for it to keep its looks if that's what floats your boat . Edited to be a bit more precise, I'm back at work here lol . (edited)

I have this, and it is solid as aluminium. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one if I need it.

Is yours the exact same product from Vounot or a different make? Also, do you have issue of water sipping through the back where it meets the wall cos no o e really talks about that?

I think this might devalue your house. It's pretty cheap looking

Have any of you commenting even seen this product in real life? I have and let me tell you, our (not my lol) company has supplied and fitted many of them over the years for around £3-500 (depending upon the car you drive, The area you live in and the holidays you attend, not my fault you all talk too much about your wealth to salesmen )fitted. This does not look cheap for what it is(personal preference my own and customer feedback) and the brackets are composite strong and heavy. On, one occasion I had to fit one higher than I would have liked and that did look a bit tacky it's not overly deep so doesn't look amazing too high up, or even very effective, that's my only concern with its looks and practicability. hope this helps people decide. on top of that, this is from Amazon so you can easily return it if you don't like it (better if you have Prime).  (edited)

These are good but put some sealant around where the plastic panels join the frame. Otherwise water gets in between the plastic and it can't easily be cleaned.

Got a similar one of these for the back door 80 x 120, but in brown plastic sheeting to provide a shaded feel. Paid 37.99 back in 2020 (no longer sold on Amazon) - easy to install with some transparent sealant between the frame and brickwork.
Easy to clean, and has made it quieter without the rain hitting the backdoor. Doesn´t sound half as loud when hitting this.
Very pleased with it, 3 years going strong.

Unless someone lives in a rented property or a genuine dump of an house, surly the similar argument to people buying 99p phone cases for there £1000 phones apply?
    shopaholic8's avatar
Doesn’t need to be door. I’ve been looking at them to cover a narrow alleyway between my house and garage. Way cheaper than a lean-to and not visible to anyone other than me.

We bought a 3-panel one for an outside shelter which was attached to the garage (there was a gap between the garage and the neighbour's fence just wide enough) and then plastic sheeting was hung all around. wall-hung shelving was then attached to the garage. This gave us room to put items that could be kept outside but we wanted the water kept off. ie logs, bicycles, garden tools, buckets etc

I know this might sound stupid but I really don't see what the point of it is...

Look at the pictures the OP has posted on the advert, This item is clearly for protecting you from falling plant pots and rain drop sound protection for your sleeping dog. (edited)

I have had one of these up for a good 10+ years and although it looks very weathered it is still fully functional.Guess it’s time to change it.Thanks op

Save the work and the plastic waste and just give it a clean perhaps?
  10. DDP_DDP's avatar
My next door neighbour has one of these
When he installed or last year it looked ok
Now it looks cheap and weathered
And now brings the entire estate into disrepute !

Does the wink imply that your whole comment is tongue in cheek?

Hailstone smashed a hundred holes in ours the other week - not sure the plastic is up to the job
    madmarkman's avatar
This exact one shown will not do that If it's south facing. I would suggest cleaning the top of it now and then with wd 40 or a wax, silicone-based spray. to keep the Polly from drying out .

Have one of these 5 years in 2 panels now cracked any idea where I could get new plastic panels?
    madmarkman's avatar
It will cost you around £30 to £50 for the sheet .You might be better off getting a new one if you think £50 for 5 years is worth it .

I think my neighbour's son has one on the back of his VW Jetta, always wondered where he got it from.

Good ol' bus / smoking shelter!

I have this exact canopy, didn’t like the grey, so sprayed anthracite, it’s been through gale force winds and held up with no issues, been up a couple of years and still get comments about how good it looks, ps I live in a very nice privately owned cul-de-sac and it does not look cheap and tacky, I can only guess the comments are from people that have never seen one fitted correctly

two of these back to back on legs could make a cheap BBQ shelter?

What a horrible comment to make.

Why is it raining plant pots in the picture?
    madmarkman's avatar
Maybe it's an illustration to show how strong it is . I'm only using an educated guess because the same illustration says shock resistance.

Think I may have got the last one. Which is a shame as I wanted two
    hukdbarney's avatar
It’s limited to one per account. I’ve just bought two on separate accounts.
  28. austinc's avatar
If i put one up will the bus stop at my house?
    DDP_DDP's avatar
There’s a 50% change a bus will stop at your house if you install one of these canopy’s
However if you add a bus stop sign next to it
And with a bench that’s soaked in urine
    that could increase the likelihood..
It’s very Possibly that people may start
sitting outside your house waiting for a bus that won’t arrive..
    Good luck 🤞 (edited)

There is a road in my town that is all bungalows and the front doors are all on the side.
I walked it the other day and noticed that a good portion of the bungalows have one of these covering the front door.
The vast majority (80%+) were yellowed, cracked or completely broken.
I don't know how long any of them have been fitted but they have been added by the householders over the years and not by the original builders.
Up until the point of seeing them I was considering getting one myself - changed my mind now.
