Discrimination against Londoners

Considering they can normally cost £12 I think it's great. Most cinemas around me are £10+ which makes me not go often at all but Vue manages to have their tickets at £5 any day any movie which is a great deal. Not sure how they can undercut everyone else so much but I think they deserve more praise for it. Cinema started to become an expensive night out and many people stopped going altogether but at a flat £5 in almost all of their cinemas it's a pretty awesome thing.
Great deal but don't expect to use it today. It doesn't work on the bank holidays.

Does Cineworld have a cheap day
My local independent cinema in Clacton charges £2.50 weekdays and £3.50 weekends if you just turn up - or add 50p booking fee if booked on line. Their food prices are great with Ice Cream at £1.50 a tub. No need for cinemas to rip customers off with sweet bags that cost £1.00 in the Hjgh St and £4.00 + in Vue. I avoid Vue unless they have deals and certainly avoid their food so at 3.99 a good price and st 4.99 for other days also OK. Any more and you are being ripped off and best to vote with your feet and wait for the film to go on TV or DVD. Then maybe cinemas will price fairly.

You can take your own food in with you. It is says so in the terms and conditions. Whether you want to take ice cream and hot dogs in though is another question.

Discrimination against Londoners

No, many Londoner's get London weigting and some of the lowest council tax rates in the UK. Other areas have lower prices as they do not get London weighting. Scrap London weighting and fine, it is discrimination.

There should be a London weighting tax when people sell their properties as they are "subsidised" in their purchase by London weighting!
I assume we can show the code when paying at the box office, ??

re food prices, please stop eating in the cinema. its noisy and destroys any attention to the dialogue, even fast and furious has a noisy soundtrack but rustling wrappers is an intrusion. educate your friends as well. thanks

London weighting is peanuts and a lot of employers (if you get it) only pay it if you work in inner London (read surrounding the city), council tax is on par or more (not cheaper) with most other councils and whilst we have a somewhat good public transport system it’s not cheap by any means.
And from next year if you are unable to afford a new greener car then you’ll have to pay the T-Charge as the mayor wants to expand the ULEZ up to the north and south circular roads (ring roads)

Live outside of London and you’re money goes a lot further.

Look at Council taxes in Westminister. Very low.
Free tube for children? Where else?
Cheap bufett food in many restaurants.
Higher salaries.
Higher property price growth.

Be poor and the government will let you live where workers cannot afford to live!

People have a choice where to live and work. If you do not like London, then move!

As for tower blocks with poor cladding, let the landlords replace then and increase the rent for those who live there to pay for it.
Install sprinklers and increase the rent to pay for it. If I want a sprinkler system in my house, I have to pay for it!
you are better off waiting for Meercat TUES WEDS as its 4.99 for 2 people .

My bag has been searched before for food. Not sure this is entirely true.
Is this only online or can it be purchased at the cinema?
Can this be used alongside Meerkat Movies like someone suggested earlier?

Hi thank you op. My local cinema is vue. I have meerkat 2for1 but this is great for Mondays during school holidays. I always take a drink and chocs and have never had my bag searched. The kids love popcorn and tango ice blasts etc 😃

Depends what food.

myvue.com/legal/terms-and-conditions

"10. Sound and video recording equipment (including but not limited to cameras and mobile devices with recording functions) are not permitted inside the auditorium. Vue reserves the right to conduct random bag checks in this respect and to report any guest found or suspected of copying or attempting to copy any film or other copyright protected material to the relevant authorities."

"12. Guests may not bring or consume any hot food or alcohol purchased outside of the premises"

The bag search you experienced was to search for such equipment in (10) and food mentioned in (12).

As such (and according to their own t&c) any food not hot is permitted.

Toodles.

At the same time. there was some sort of ruling a few years ago that stopped cinemas being able to throw you out or stop you from going in if you bought your own food with you.

Just hit up your nearest supermarket or cornershop for snacks before you go in. Nobody is forcing you to buy food from VUE but a lot of people do because they believe that its part of the movie experience.
I don’t mind the high food prices if that means cheap tickets. I buy the occasional popcorn but much prefer my own snacks.

That makes sense. I bought in hot food. I guess next time it's a Tesco meal deal for me.

Wow!
There is something like a 1500% - 2000% markup on popcorn. It is pretty outrageous. And you know the staff are going to be getting paid minimum wage.

Its poo but part of the perks of the job is you get to see every new movie before it gets released and you get to watch it for free.

How high you rate those perks depends on how much of a movie buff you are.

Food prices are ridiculously marked up but Id rather the movie be cheap and the food be expensive as it gives more options. Eat elsewhere before or after the movie or bring in your own food. Me and my friends just normally just buy a drink from outside and take it in or buy a hotdog/nachos from the counter if we are really really gagging for a in-movie snack.
Well watch the Solo film last Mon & it cost me 6 BeerTokens
