At Peter Cooper in Hedge End Southampton the Volkswagen garage are advertising buy one get one free when you spend almost £28k on a new R32 Golf you get a VW Fox free.

I've checked out the deal on the website and it's just displayed as a saving of £7545 which I guess is the same deal that could be used either way. I guess this is a deal to shift stock before the new shape golf comes in soon but a little better than some others.

So is it £20k with a free fox?

Hardly buy 1 get one free, it's but 1 get something else altogether "free", but you could probably get the cost of a Fox off the R32 anyway at the moment!

'Free car' deal = lies.

Thought it was R32 BOGOF. Not a great deal as the R32 are old style ones now.

If anybody is looking for a golf, motorpoint have golf 1.4GT sports for £11999 which should be fast enough for most.

Thought this was a HOT deal until I read the small print.
If it was 2 R32's that would have been scorching.

Cold for me I'm afraid, may be good for others.

Load of c0ck - buy half decent car and full price get bag of knackers car free.....great deal not

I was very excited when I first read the deal as thought it was 2xR32 but turns out one R32 & 1 Fox which looked ok but I agree this would be suuuuper hot if it was bogof r32!

If anyone can suggest some other deals i'm desperate for a new car, I keep my eye on trade-sales & motorpoint, generally thinking an astra or vectra are good value, but thinking maybe an auction would be a good idea? Any advice welcome...

28k on a golf, lol

Or is it £20k for an R32 and a fox?

I buy a car because I want a car, not because I want two cars. I don't.

I have a Mk5 GTI, the only other car I would change it for is a Mk5 GTI.

R32 is not going to be replaced with a Mk6 V6 engine due emissions, so probably will become a classic if you buy one and store it for 25 years?

I thought it was quite clear. £28k for R32 + fox OR £20k for R32 only, I thought a saving of almost £8k was quite good!

:prop:

please edit main title.

yes auctions are the place for the very best value cars if you can spot a good 'un from a bad 'un

You can get the R32 from other dealers already

My local VW dealer has had a R32 on an 08 plate from new, not sold in all that time, it's now down to 20,995 with delivery mileage.

The lady was telling us about how they can't shift it and they had no idea why, they are selling everything else, just not that.

REALLY sh$tty deal IMO.

Certainly not 'buy one get one free' - it's buy something good and get a turd free. Oh, and by taking delivery of the turd, you relinquish all rights to haggle, barter and otherwise generally reduce the purchase price of the golf, increase your trade in value, or adjust interest rates on finance.

These deals suck.

Blame the credit crunch, highest CO2 emmisions puts it in £400 p/a road tax bracket and also there is little demand for big capacity gas guzzlers.

If I recall VW stopped making this model before they even stopped production of the Mk5 becuase of too little demand.

You can get nearly new models for near half this price which just shows what the demand is like in the recession.
