I don't think OPs link is for pd engines, same seller selling the pd version for £5 more here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triple-QX-5w40-Fully-Synthetic-For-PD-engines-Engine-Oil-5-Litre-/300637657322?pt=UK_Vehicle_Oils_Lubricants_Fluids&hash=item45ff6698ea#ht_1371wt_1185

To add - Last time I bought oil for my pd130 it was around £22-24, Q7 or quantium brand iirc. had to buy 10ltrs at a time for this price but its not far off to this (to me anyway) unknown brand.

Yes very little info on oil brand. I stand corrected the cheaper one is infact vw 505.00 and not vw505.01.I will correct in morning. My heads splitting 505.00,505,01 502,506.00,507.00,ive missed 504.00.,,, Alot of contradictory and misleading, information and advise out there, that even dealerships get it wrong. My conclusion is that dont go on the first three digits only. 505.00 and 505.01 are not similar when it comes to a Pd engine and 505.01 is the recomended oil spec and one to buy. I gotta laugh at myself trying to save money going diy when national quoted me £36 Castrol edge with filter, less 20% online booking promotion through google+. But its in my nature to tackle things like this. Last year this time i got carlube triple R in a morrison deal, going on what ive learned today it is not recommended also carlube's own text alert with reg number was incorrect recommendation.

Think you also got to look out for the terms 'meets requirements' and 'approved'. In the oil terms 1st one means it passes in house tests, and second one means test were done by official body.

VW's apart (oil scare mongering if owt!) it's a good price for a fully synth oil, will suit most post '95 stuff, 10w40, 10w30, 5w30 inc diesels... if anything it's the long distance oil service specs that are the problem, not ness' the oil....
Personally I believe vw pd engines requires 5w 30 fully. Has anyone ever seen what happens to 1.9pd engines run on other oil? It wears the camshaft out.
