sorted byAgree, another reason I prefer these:
do what? never did that.
Very valid concern about unecessary plastic making it into the water supply but I think you're ok with the soluble film. It's a form of poly vinyl alcohol that is genuinely highly soluble and biodegradable and breaks down rapidly. Recent studies have confirmed this too, so these are probably better than the old individually plastic wrapped tablets they used to do :-)
If you already fill the salt container, and use an expensive all-in-one in a hard area, then your results may only be on par with someone in a soft area using just 1 cheap tablet.
Those in London are unlikely to ever get the same result as those in the Highlands, for example. (edited)
no need to they have dissolving film on
Oh what a muppet, sorry. Missed the weekend line. Never usually go to lidls and have just moved so one is near!
They are we never remove the film and never have a problem and says dissolving film on the box no need to unwrap (edited)
I started using the Magnum after reading recommendations on here. I think they’re quite overrated. They’re no better than many other tablets I find. But they’re good for the price and I do keep a load of them. Even the fancier Finish tablets though (can’t remember what they’re called, they are in 3 foldable compartments) are not that great. They all seem to perform similarly.
Then I tried the Fairy ones. Not even the top of their range ones, just the three coloured ones (again, can’t remember exactly what they were called since everyone likes to call all their range something familiar and confusingly similar). But anyway, those were genuinely amazing. Pricier (though not by much at all), but work very well, especially on trays where you often get burnt on fat from roasts. No other tablets have ever satisfactorily removed that, even on hotter and longer cycles. I don’t know what I’m trying to prove here. I’ve gone on for so long I can’t remember if there was even a point to writing all this.
It’s been quite a nice day today hasn’t it? It was cloudy, but still enough sun making an appearance and not at all uncomfortable. Saturday night now though isn’t it? So can’t help thinking about Sunday. Which is frighteningly close to Monday. I hate Mondays. They really need to change that. It should be a Saturday and Sunday working week, and Monday to Friday inclusive is the weekend. (edited)
Why the dishwasher will do this, just pop in and job is done
They don’t They go straight in the flap!
I used one to clean my metal extractor hood filters. Tried fairy liquid and very hot water and scrubbing and didn't do much. Left ones of these in with them and about an hour later they were much better. They clean using enzymes though so makes sense that they're more efficient.
Also very good for dishwasher. They used to be individually wrapped, they are now with dissolving film, always dissolves for me using the eco cycle. I still have to use liquid rinse aid if I want plastic to come out dry though. All in all, really rate them, usually buy half a dozen boxes when they're on offer and stock up for the year
Unless your store opens very early the weekends deals only run Friday to Sunday
I have never unwrapped any tablets either - they dissolve automatically - and there has never been a problem with plastic in the dishwasher
I may try that. When we've bought these before the wrapper didn't dissolve properly
Dishwasher powder is more environmentally friendly than tablets, because you can reduce or increase the dosage according to how grotty the pots and pans are, and it dissolves quicker than tablets so starts working sooner in the wash. The decent stuff used to come in very large carboard boxes, unfortunately I don't think there are any good powders on the market now and they all come in tiny plastic tubs.
I did and Lidl's are as good.

Normal tab in the dispenser, for the main cycle. Dash of powder dumped in the base for the prewash. Dishes come out great, don't even bother with any of that rinsing off/sink soaking I used to do.
These are cheap enough to throw one in the dispenser, one in the base, wash as normal. Sparkly warkly dishes.
Same here, i have to peel every tablet or the tablet dont dissolvw completely.
I peel the film off before putting in the machine.
Try a hot water tap, much easier than peeling
Have used for about 2 years with dissolving film never a problem and we are in hard water area.
I did a few years ago and these are better because they don’t stick together and tear open spilling the liquid. But best thing is not having to hunt for the mythical <10p per tab anymore.
I bet the people who are trying to peel the plastic off are the same ones that rinse their dishes before loading
We’re in a hard water area too but get variable results with the film on. Maybe it is because we use eco mode on a Bosch machine.
I think you have hit the nail on the head, it will depend what temp the dishwasher is set too
This is an entirely arbitrary assumption though, and probably just because I prefer that the capsule disolves
According to Which?, nearly, but not quite as good. At the same price, I'd buy the Aldi ones; for at 2/3 the price, I'll buy these.
I don't shop at Aldi to compare as travelling to our nearest one would negate any cost saving.
