Great went in to buy some steak and got a wacker too, should help to tenderise it easier
I bought one of these last year, used it for a big job in my garden and then sold it for £300, £40 profit!

Fair price but where did the £549.99 original price come from? Virtually the same here at Screwfix screwfix.com/p/t…=ds @ £349.99 (a more realistic saving of £60).
How are you my old wacker

Hi Marty-401, the actual link to the exact compactor on Screwfix is:-

Strange item for Aldi to sell A bit of a niche item, not the sort of thing that most people will get that much use from especially when you can just hire one for the occasional job
Pre-ordered one first thing this morning. Along with one of their patio cleaner pressure washer attachments.

Been borrowing a wacker so far but still got loads to do. Will probably need an extra pass or two to get the same results. We shall see....
Anyone know the brand of the engine used in this unit? Loncin, Lifan?

Seems to be Loncin from the instruction manual but I guess it could be any non-Honda engine!

I do not think that there are too many occasional jobs to be honest, at least not for a DIY person. So hire or sell up after the job is probably the best choice.

This is aldi though. The steak will be tough but the wacker won't start either.
Enjoy your tough steak.

Was thinking the same thing. I've used one once, and I can't imagine just how many times someone is going to use one in a lifetime. Personally I never want to lay concrete again.
Surely the people who do this for a living will be sourcing say a Honda equivalent for a few more quid, rather than the type why wander into Aldi and impulse buy one.

Most DIY projects are a one day job, so you'd might as well hire one for £21
(that's the rather cheap price I found on hirestation co uk if anyone is interested...)

Might be worth mentioning these are online only. You won't be impulse buying one if you pop in for some milk and scuba diving kit.

Yeah but how much is to hire one for say a week? If you buy this and then sell it after you finish i think you`ll lose less than what you pay to hire one for a week.

We've got a local independent tool hire place here. Probably the best prices I've come across and they charge £45 a week (Inc. VAT)

Not a bad price but I reckon if you need one of these now you buy this one use it for a a couple of weeks and you can probably still sell it for very close to 280.

A week? A typical application is the sub base for concrete garage or flags/tarmac.
Takes about 2 hours?

Also, £21 for a day from a quick google.

Love it when people get all uppity and start checking out deal history like it's some kind of real life achievement lol
Last thing I bought from there was a 300kg platform. Wheels buckled with less than 200 on it. That got to 1777 degrees even though it was a pile of crap.
People on here love Aldi because it's cheap, not because it's any good.

Must be why they're doing so badly then. :/

My advice: it's busy enough already so just stay away and leave it to the fans.

Aldi fan boy. Not heard of that one before.

And yes that's exactly why they do so well. Because people like you love that they got a cheap tool that sits in the garage for several years.
'Had it 3 years and still like new' (because I never use it)

I like the real life achievement hehe nice! This app is pulling too much bugs in and it is starting to get crowded here. I had a comment deleted yesterday because i said what i meant that people fight for sharing a mail coupons and that is ridiculous and stoopid.. This is getting to the point where some low life is going to report anyone because they can't handle the truth and feel like they are achieving something here, like what?

I now need it again for another part of my garden, not certain il sell it for more than I paid this time though, will look at hiring as would only need it for a day for this job.
Just hire a professional one for £21
HSS Hire
Council could do with a few of these. One of these and a few bags of tarmac and they could go around filling in potholes.
Sold Out now. Also, had mine delivered today. The delivery crew had 30 wacker plates in their transit and nothing else! They were somewhat confused!
The deal is back on again now. Deal posted today by an Eagle eye. Anyone have any feedback about reliability / quality?

skip122, I picked this up recently, I have only used it for 3-4 days, and it has been brilliant!!.
Started first time every time(you only require 600ml of oil, and unleaded fuel(I always use the super unleaded for small machinery like these)).
I would certainly recommend the plate, and a bargain at the price
