Had my wired Wahl clippers for years and still going strong. Not sure exactly how old, but the plastic carry case contains a VHS with instructional video on how to use it!
12 hr charge time kills it for me.

If you’re trying to achieve a number 3 all over it’s probably going to suit. If you’re trying to skin fade, or cut someone with particularly thick hair, then you’re probably wasting money and need something more robust. However, for what it is, it’s a good price so heat added.

This is cheap Wahl range for basically cheap skates.

You can get a professional Wahl clippers used by barbers who cut 20+ people a day for less than £50.

I own the balding, magic clip and andis microfoil and liner.

It's worth buying the proper stuff as it will pay for itself within a few months

I’ve been using a Taper Pro for a few years now, I’ve tried zero gapping the blades but can’t seem to get close enough. Also the cable is a faff. Would to recommend any of the models you mention?
Sorry, ‘Super Taper’. That’s the one I’ve been using.

Balding will get skin close but doesn't come with many guards.

The clip is cordless but nowhere near as powerful I find I have to go over the same area several times but it's much better for fading but won't go skin tight

Its why I have both.

Bought it and its brilliant
I got this last week for £22.99 (argghh) and it's pretty good. I got it to trim my (long) beard and it works well. I also used it to fade my beard with the attachments and again, worked pretty well. Build quality is good too, its heavy in the hand which I like. Totally worth it for £17.99

Which one do you have or recommend. I've got 2 wahls but both, erm, don't quite cut it

Need a more robust one for thicker hair.

If you have thick hair then buy wired IMO over cordless.

Balding is the most powerful with closest shave but comes with 4 small guards so you need to buy more guards for it.

The wired Wahl balding is the best.

Magic clip cordless is most versatile. I own and use both

Wow that's old, I remember that one in the 90s
Asda are selling at £15.
Any good for beard trimming?
As stated by @Karencraig above, Asda selling same item (Wahl 9655) for £15...
groceries.asda.com/pro…848

Just be cautious as I believe these contain a Ni-MH (nickel-based) battery which will go bad after a short time.

I bought a cheap pair from Argos for around the same price many years ago, but due to the Li-Ion (lithium-based) battery, it's still going strong to this day and only takes 2 hours max to charge.

The same goes for electric toothbrush companies which basically rip-off people with old battery technology, and unnecessarily cause more waste (built-in obsolescence), when they could just as cheaply include a Lithium battery!

Best cordless clipper i've had was a 1 hr charge, ceramic cutter, Silvercrest from Lidl, bought about 7 yrs ago. The lithium battery only died recently, but still works corded. Only cost me around £15,
Really hoping they stock them again.

My dad had one like that, bought from Aldi circa 1998. I remember the VHS was really American and refered to the "Soccer cut" i.e the bowl head or mushroom head.

I agree genuine professional grade stuff is far better. But at £17 and being easy to collect at argos this is ideal for stubble, body hair and kids hair.

It might struggle with a whole haircut on thick mens hair, and expect it to miss the odd hair. I bought another $30 Wahl rechargeable clipper at Walmart USA last year, and it misses hairs to a ridiculous degree.
I had a Wahl cordless clipper from the professional range, it lasted about 6 years and was fantastic, till the battery got to the stage it wouldn't last long enough for a shave or hair trim, went to Argos and re bought the same item, but the model number on the unit had changed from 365 (old one) to 366 on the new one, everything else the same ie instructions/box/accessories etc, and it's rubbish, the motor is clearly cheaper and doesn't get up to the speeds or have the cutting power the old one has, it's OK for a beard trim, but couldn't have a decent hair cut or shave with it. the newer one was also living off the reviews from the previous model too.

Just search Wahl balding in ebay or Wahl magic clip. Ebay usually has best prices
Wahl professional range is amazing stuff for the price. I've had the balding clippers for years. The closest to a wet shave you can get from clippers, last time I looked at least.
Had lots of cheap plastic stuff before these that never felt up to the job of a once a week haircut. If you plan to always use them pay for the superior ones. Under £50 and you'll feel you got a bargain. Mine are at least 10 years old now I think. Even bought a set of coloured guides for them a couple of years ago for beard work. Cordless body/beard trimmer types just weren't up to the job. No power, and battery runs out half way through is frustrating as hell. Ok for the odd bit of manscaping work though lol.
12 hours charging time and only 45 minutes runtime? Jesus what?
I've had a few sets of clippers and the Ones you plug in are always the best, forget rechargeable, gutless
We the clipper attachments metal. ? Or plastic. ?
Brilliant investment a pair of clippers and a partner who is ready to learn. Men's hair isn't hard to cut if you're having a business friendly cut: two faded up to a four and tidied up on top. Haven't been to the barbers in years... saved a fortune and loads of time and idle chat about my holiday plans. HOT!
