All sizes available, My 'Medium' chicken was only £2.50. The small ones are less than £2!

The packaging states that they are 'reared with care by farmers who share our values'. Not sure if that's enough to keep the Chicken Police at bay; may the sweepstake begin (I'm having 16:37)

Sounds like a meaningless statement that they hope sounds good enough to fool people because they can't actually say 'free range'. At least, not legally.
Still, you pays your money and you takes your choice. If you're happy eating an animal that costs that little to raise, process and sell and still make a profit (barely, from the farmer's point of view I'd suspect) then hey, that's your decision and no amount of comments from the 'Chicken Police' as you call them (you troll-baiter, you!) is going to dissuade you, is it?

MMMMMM dead chicken flesh to BBQ  tastes the same as other dead chicken produce too

It's a loss-leader so Waitrose are probably losing money on everyone they sell. It seems strange that this is one class of product that some people think you shouldn't be able to get a bargain on. Nobody complains about farmer's profit margins when bread is on BOGOF.

True, true, I guess wheat doesn't tug on some people's heart strings in the same way as animals do. Farmers get screwed over on most things, especially when supermarkets are involved, maybe it's time someone should start a free-range bread movement?

not really a fair comparison either scientifically or morally.

Voted hot for the photo - chicks with guns. Where have you been all my life?

Well yeah, that's kinda why I made the ludicrous suggestion about free-range bread but maybe I wasn't obvious enough. Though I think SpamJavelin had a fair point about how people don't start complaining about BOGOFF bread, so didn't want to come across as slating his views, a couple of loaves of bread for a quid is in a slightly different league to a whole chicken for a couple of quid.

But like I said, some people will never be dissuaded from thinking this is a good thing but then the site's called HotUKDeals not HotUKMorals isn't it? I just wish the marketing people would show some honesty and stop trying to make out something's almost as good as free range when it plainly isn't. Yes, I know, may as well wish for world peace or for all the seas in the world to suddenly turn into low-fat raspberry yoghurt for all the likelihood of that happening but hey, gotta have dreams, eh?

ahh sarcasm, i get it now, not sure i agree about spams comments as all objections to this type of product i have seen have been on animal welfare issues rather than farmers margins and on that i agree with most of them.
