Various dates aval - really good reviews of the hotel.

  • Two nights' accommodation in a Double, Twin or Family Room (subject to availability on booking), with daily full Welsh breakfast, for two
  • A bottle of prosecco (worth £28)

Surrounded by the "beautiful" (The AA) Dyfi Valley countryside on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, The Brigands Inn offers rustic-style accommodation and seasonal dining in a historic setting. This "splendid" (The AA) property, with a whitewashed half-timbered façade, occupies a former coaching inn dating from the 15th century, and is within easy reach of walking trails and wildlife watching opportunities. It's a 20-minute drive from King Arthur's Labyrinth, an underground boat ride and walking tour through caves and tunnels, and within 30 minutes' drive of Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway and Barmouth -- a "full-fledged seaside resort" with "a 2-mile-long-promenade and wide expanses of golden beach" (Fodor's). The "sumptuous" Powis Castle and its "exquisite terraced gardens" (Rough Guides) take around 45 minutes to reach by car.Beams, open fireplaces and "stylish" (The AA) décor characterise The Brigands Inn's cosy interiors. The restaurant serves seasonal dishes made using local produce. Dogs are welcome (supplements apply), with specially brewed canine beer also available. The nine rooms are individually decorated and feature solid oak furnishings, exposed wood beams and Egyptian cotton bedding. Most rooms have a shower over the bath. Some rooms have 4-poster beds and countryside views. Wi-Fi is free.

Bit cheeky to charge £20 per night for a kids bed. Might as well put them in their own room and drink their prosecco.
Great location, perfect spot if you like cycling the "hell fire pass isn't far" it 1 of the top 100 UK climbs, opposite the pub the road takes you to some lovely waterfalls, (not Niagara) but very pretty, there a lot of things to see in the area,
Wonder if I can swap the Prosecco for 4 cans of Stella to have with my breakfast?
Stayed here in February this year on a Travelzoo deal - £99 for two nights B&B (no Prosecco though!) Lovely old pub with quaint rooms and one of the best breakfasts that we have ever had!

Thanks OP, usually very sceptical about travel zoo and the like deals but seems to be a genuine price reduction. Booked for over the bank holiday in April which surprisingly wasn't more expensive or unavailable.
I assume there's no protection if the hotel goes bust in the meantime from either travel zoo/Abta/atol or credit card companies though?
Sounds great, but as a single mother of 2 daughters we are not able to book this...

Travelzoo are a massive company, IF something were to happen to said hotel(s) you'd think they'd help out.

Personally don't have the answers but worth checking with them directly travelzoo.com/uk/…aq/

Very much doubt this hotel will go bust. Its always busy when I pass (every day I work) and is on the main roundabout most people pass going into mid Wales. Very visible and used by people as a stopping point on their way to the beach.

You used to have to pay to get into Wales, but the toll has now been scrapped: bbc.co.uk/new…168

wow, surprised they killed off that cash cow, they must have made many times over the cost to build the bridge.
Personally I think it should be free as soon as it has been paid for, and road tax should cover maintenance, also it eases congestion. Allows small business to trade across each side, can only be good for the economy which brings in more money anyway, will read link later, thanks buddy.

There is also what a lot of us that have to use it on a regular basis call, 'The Wacky Races' which you would take part in once exiting the toll and picking a car or cars and trying to beat them to the part where the lanes started again (while being very cautious and careful, of course ). RIP toll Wacky Races, you will be missed.
Dogs allowed?

I've 2 kids. So 20 for one and 25 the other
Looks a really nice place when I've passed. The Mach Loop is nearby as is Aberdovey which has a great ice cream shop. Some cracking scenery, lake, sea and mountains within easy reach.
Good deal but why no children. Oh well.

Lol! I'm actually from Wales and have family in England, I haven't been able to take advantage of the scrapped tolls yet though, last time I came through, they were still there. It'll be nice not trying to keep an exact amount of change for the way back (although I do worry about the loss of money for Wales)

What a strange tangent lol. The toll was for South Wales and this deal is based in North Wales. Basically different countries

£20 extra for a kids bed is not that much
We are a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 under 5s. Do we just book a family room?
