NEW FOR 2019!!
Airshow After Dark

A summer’s evening of music, action and after dark air displays is set for day one of the Wales Airshow 2019.

For the first time, hot air balloons and night-flying aerobatic teams will be gathering to party over Swansea as part of the Wales Airshow weekend.

The After Dark evening entertainment starts from 8.30pm on Saturday 6 July, which will also feature music from 1969, is being staged to help celebrate the city’s 50th anniversary.

Evening entertainment

From 8.30pm enjoy free luminous face painting and walkabout space characters as you get ready for the night time displays. There will also be live music, nostalgically taking people back to the late 60’s to celebrate some of the sounds topping the charts in the year that Swansea was first designated as a city.

You’ll also be able to explore the Oriel Science marquee! The 20th July 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the first humans setting foot on the Moon as part of NASA’s Apollo 11 mission. Since then no human has travelled further!! To celebrate this momentous occasion in exploration, Oriel Science (a Swansea University project) are hosting a “Space” themed stand at the Swansea Air Show’s After Dark event on the evening of Saturday 6th July. From searching for micrometeorites, and identifying sun spots, to understanding how gravity explains planetary motion using a “Gravity Well”, stop by the stand and take part in their “Space” activities. You can also test your “Space” knowledge in their “Lost in Space” quiz. Find them between the Cenotaph and the former 360 Café on the Swansea Bay Waterfront.

Fireflies Aerobatic Display Team

The Fireflies Aerobatic Display Team will also take to the sky for their night time display – featuring a stunt filled show that will light up the night sky with fireworks trailing from the planes wings!

Tigers Parachute Display Team

Keep your eyes on the sky as the Tigers Parachute Display Team will parachute in over the bay – they’ll be easy to spot, with flares and pyrotechnics trailing behind them!

Hot Air Balloons

Ten hot air balloons will be tethered along Swansea Bay beach, and will light up and fire along in time to music. Enjoy a summer night watching the show viewing the eye catching display, and walking along exploring the balloons which will feature animal shapes and colourful designs.

Wales Airshow After Dark
A big thank you to Hutchings Motor Group, who will be supplying Isuzu 4×4’s for the Hot Air Balloon tethers during the event.

Fireworks display

To finish off the evening’s entertainment, settle down to enjoy a fireworks display from the Bay!

Thanks for reminding. Was there last year. Kids enjoyed it 🏾
The traffic is chaos when that is on they shut the main road off.
Very poorly organised. If you want a decently organised air show for free try Bournemouth
Really enjoy every year and all viewed from the beach! It gets a bit samey every year although this year they have a new after dark show too.

My fav is the Typhoon!
