I have just been listening to the radionowhere.org "Best of 2009" compliation and heard a track from this amazing album and decided I had to buy it. Never heard of the band despite this CD being released back many months ago.
Musical taste is subjective, but this Oz band has a nice 80s feel to it.

"Walking On A Dream is the much anticipated debut album from hotly-tipped Australian retro-duo Empire Of The Sun. With a glorious electronic edge, their synth-led, 80's psychedelic pop sound is guaranteed to dominate the airwaves in the coming months."

p.s. if anyone knows about this band can you let me know more about them? Are they brand new or a reformed band from other well known groups?

Good band and album.

The lead singer (Luke Steel) used to be in a band called The Sleepy Jackson, good song and video below.

I saw the Sleepy Jackson at Reading Festival a few years ago, there was some weird stuff going on playing the guitar with a knife and fork.

I can highly recommend the album Lovers it was one of my most listened to album the year it came out.

Hasnt left my iPod for over a year- I'm sure I got this prior to 2009 though. One of the best albums of recent years (well, the first half of the album anyway)

Any other recommendations from the Sleepy Jackson? Just listened to the track you linked and sleepy day- both decent Beatles-esque tunes. Remind me a lot of a laidback Jet

Excellent Album...
