Start torque of 80nm is insane. Sump plugs for example can be around 25nm and oil filters even less. Defo get a wider range one

i have 2 torque wrenchs which cover all ranges for my car. 80nm is high. one wrench cannot do all ranges. (edited)

From bitter experience, these cheap torque wrenches are not good at their lowest settings. Ok for wheel nuts or other steel on steel, not much else.

Thanks, you may have just saved me from issues in the long run

You can calibrate these, but I wouldn't waste my money as they're cheap and will always fall out of calibration fast. Your best bet is just getting a long spanner or wrench for the leverage you want and doing it by hand feel. Cause if that torque wrench is way off, then you could be putting yourself or someone else in danger doing a wheel nut up too loose.

If you're doing an engine rebuild, then you have to spend quite a bit of money. (edited)

By hand feel, lol. Ever done that and then used a professional torque wrench to see what your hand and brain thought they were doing torque wise. You'll be miles off.

Thanks OP. If you are not in a hurry, Aldi offers come round in a circle and these are usually around £18 or even less when they reduce it down.

No mention of a certificate of calibration, questionable accuracy without one.

I sure lidl would not sell these without certification.

    I'd echo

A chepo may be decent for wheel nuts, for anything smaller than that invest in quality. Halfords Advance or Teng come to mind.

I bought a few years ago very solid and good quality. Torque range ok for car wheels but I had to buy a smaller 5-50nm for spark plugs n sump nuts
