Under these rules, you need to be receiving one of the following in order to apply for free insulation:

- Income-related employment and support allowance

- Income-based jobseeker’s allowance

- Income support

I agree, it's outrageous - these handouts should be for us millionaires only.

Once again we are the marginalised minority. When will the persecution end??

nPower are doing free loft insulation too. We were accepted. We're not pensioners or on any benefits!

How can you apply? I want to get the loft insulation as well
You can review tax credits and be in employment.

There are many low income families with working parents who 'get by' on their earnings but don't earn enough to pay for insulating their homes as they are paying the gas bills for heating it.

Helping those who need it most is surely the most humane thing someone (or a large company with a high turn over) can do.
B&Q used to do some cheap loft insulation. i don't know if they still do.

i have never brought myself to get cavity wall insulation because i don't know any companies who do it properly where i live. the monkeys usually drill holes all over then pump stuff in. It's obviously going to block air bricks and go into neighbours cavity etc. not to mention the problems with re-wiring as most houses use the cavity wall to run electric up to the loft and upstairs.

i thought the cavity wall was to enable a nice air flow so your house doesn't get damp etc.
i could be totally wrong of course.
Working Tax Credit (where the relevant income is £16,010 or less)
Yeah, scroungers!

Wrong -- where did you get that from? A 3-child family with one breadwinner on £18,000 can get WTC. More if they have a larger family.

Sorry mate but you know absolutely nothing about building game based on your comments. Blow in insulation is most used at the moment. Also no the neighbors is not getting "your" insulation as party walls are devided by fire stoppers, etc.
I'm a scrounger I care for my disabled wife and carry out vol work when I can. Tell you what you cure her I will pay you double back that we get. You may be able to have a weekend away out of it

Or 42 hours a week on minimum wage. Potentially in a job that is zero hour contract or minimum guarantees hours so that the employer has to make little to no pension contribution.

A single parent who works any number of hours in a week to support themselves deserves some help.

Anyone who is trying to help themselves should be offered help in heating their home. It's a benefit to them, their families and the environment.

At the end of the day anyone who is entitled to benefit and sees this 'deal' is trying to make the little they have go further so surely that deserves some positive reward.

They're not at bargain booze or dealers corner spending it on cheap drink and crack. Not all benefit claimers are how they appear to be being portrayed by the mass media.

Doesn't have to be a larger family. The 18k you refer to is actually without children.

Doesn't apply to a single person without children.
