A 2kw fan heater with thermostat, seems a good buy to keep in case of emergency's. They are £10.96 from ASDA which had a great pile of them this morning, also on line.

Is anyone good at figuring out energy consumption/prices of these sort of things. I just bought a cheap deLonghi one for the mornings, but unsure how much it might cist to use it regularly!

Morrisons are selling very similar item for £10 instore.

The thermostat on a heater makes it impossible to calculate running costs, it will vary depending on the outside temperature and the level of home insulation. Electricity costs about 15p. per unit so a 2kw heater without a thermostat will cost about 28p per hour on full heat setting.

As the o.p. said, these are a good buy to keep in case of emergency such as a c.h. boiler failure. Also usefull if you want quick localised heat whilst waiting for the central heating to warm up.

and this is not considering the air around the room will get really "dry".

Ok great, was just curious. Was worried I would be spending a lot of money on it, but that seems ok, I never keep it on that long. Thanks
