Good alternative to the Nikwax offer posted earlier today, this does the same amount of washes and proofs at half the price. Plus it's just "wash and go"
This is the stuff I have been using for about 3 years now - mountainwarehouse.com/wal…spx
They have it behind around the counter of every Mountain Warehouse I have been in or you can opt for store pickup (little point as its probably in there anyway and they charge £2.50 under £20 reservation for some reason)
One cap per item and it keeps me dry through the winter months on the motorbike - never had a single bit of wet through my suit in about 6 years of owning it. Use it daily through winter for 30 miles a trip. Was using something by Grangers IIRC before this, does the same job for cheaper.

Also free delivery - thanks to Phiras for finding the code:
Promo code FREEDEL works for free delivery

And TCB @ 7.35% - thanks to WotsUpMrBear

Thanks again bobbler and ordered. Have some heat .

Got a free sample through the door a couple of weeks ago. Says to put in washing machine with item you want to water proof. I didn't use it because I was unsure what type of residue would be left in the machine after using.

Any ideas?

None that I have noted, I use it once or twice a year, for my motorbike gear and my waterproof jacket.
There is more crap in our washing machine from standard liquid detergent/softener built up in the drawer than anything else.

Thanks bobbler, going to put the Yorkshire terrier in LOL. Well his coat anyway.

This is water based, so will not leave residue in the machine. It is however affected by the soap deposits left in the machine. I.e. it works less.

Best solution is to wash out the drawer before hand, and ideally after you've put something else on a hot wash.

This 2 in 1 is just a Granger's product sold under the mountain warehouse name. Its OK if you regularly wash garments from new, but if its been more than 12 months or they are heavily soiled you'd be much better off using separate cleaner and proofers.

Will this water proof cotton eg work trousers ,sorry for the knob question

I am not sure TBH madmarman, I believe it's for restoring waterproof properties to items that are already waterproof rather than adding it to those that aren't. Never tried using it with non-waterproof gear

This is like 6 quid on fleabay TBH
