Why would you put in a battery hogging processor and 'high-res' screen in this watch but not something useful like GPS?

Because they want it to look good in marketing campaigns and first looks in the store.

It's tragic. It's okay to love Apple and their designs, but know when they're taking the ****.
THANKYOU!! Have been scouring this place for a deal like this for ages!
Not an Apple fan, but fantastic find for those who are. Have some Heat
Decent watch at a decent price, I've had mine a few months now and paid £319 from the Apple Store - Smartwatches are far from essential, but they are useful, comparing it to my android wear watch (LG Urbane) I'd say the Apple Watch is more "stable" as in it never loses connection or hangs, they are mainly a notifications service on your wrist though as many have said the native apps are not great, I use my Android wear for work when I leave my phone in the office so I don't miss calls/texts from clients
no interest but this is hot!
Hope the one I want comes back in stock before offer ends.
Currys have joined in too plus free delivery! Great price, heat added.
Is this for the 42mm or 38mm ?
Great Deal

You can use your Android Wear on iOS, in case you didn't … You can use your Android Wear on iOS, in case you didn't know.http://www.wareable.com/android-wear/google-launches-android-wear-for-ios-1603

Yes, but having used it with an LG Urbane (W150) I can tell you it's utter crap. It's not Google's fault, it's a combination of the way Apple runs apps on the phone (not true multitasking) and the fact most of their handsets have a pathetic 1GB of RAM. As soon as the Android Wear app in the background runs out of memory (due to foreground apps being loaded more recently) your watch disconnects and you have to reload/reopen the app on the phone, and being a moderately heavy-memory app, it will disconnect a few times in a day - and you find out when it's too late normally. All of which leads you back to the Apple Watch, which is the only watch that works properly (in the loosest sense of the word) with the iPhone.
Got one of these on the first day it came out - It's amazing for tracking my exercise and reading texts on the go in the city (where someone could grab your mobile phone and run off). Great price, heat added.
Brilliant; just bought one yesterday from JL to pick up today, rang them up and they'll refund me the £50! Thank you for spotting this!
Great deal. Firstly it's a great looking watch that fits comfortably on the wrist, unlike the massive round ones. I purchased mine mainly for notifications which it does perfectly. Also, for those worrying about the battery life. I put mine on at around 8:30am and take off around midnight, to charge, when it has around 50% charge remaining. It's the one thing that did put me off initially but then I realised that I never wear my watch to bed anyway so it's not a big deal resting it on the charging unit, ready for the morning.
Can use flubit atm for John Lewis too! Probably won't end up getting the 2 year guarantee so may not be worth it. I tried and got about £20 off a £250 model.
Awesome

I'm with you on the above points, find it very convenient - might not be for everyone but it certainly makes my life much easier. love it

Is this worth getting?does anyone know when the next Gen will be released?

Ive had mine now for 4 months or so and love it. In my view it doesn't really provide anything my phone can't already do but it's a nice gadget. I love using my watch for message updates, Apple Pay, cinema tickets and airline tickets. I think the watch has a lot of untapped potential, but there is a way to go before it becomes a must have item like your smart phone. If you are tied into IOS, can spare the money and like the idea of a smart watch then it's probably worth buying. If you don't like it after 4 months sell it on eBay and get 2/3rds of your money back.

I believe there is a new version of the watch being released early next year.
Definitely a deal - but the V1.0 model is not for me, maybe a couple of iterations down the line. Heat added for the deal though.....

Thanks for the heads up managed to order the one I wanted from currys.
I have learned the hard way to avoid first gen apple products (after the initial ipod touch, iphone, ipad etc) and this product is sort of the same. They have a new one coming out in the first or second quarter of 2016, it will be wifi, have a camera and a faster more efficient processor with better battery. I didn't know you could not make facetime calls on this or even watch videos. Yeah I don't want to watch videos on such a tiny screen but still the ability would have been good.

Also this £50 reduction is not only at john lewis, it's at other stores also, which makes me think this smacks of stock pushing to make room for the next model.

Then again I got an ipad pro. At least that didn't seem like a first gen product but if they come with one that runs OSX next year I will be **** off.

good price no doubt and heat added, but ill stick to my n6p and moto 360, marshmallow is just so sexy haha:) but yeah, no joke, the only thing that would sway me to change to an iPhone is apple pay so i could use phone (watch) instead of my card (aww gosh I don't even have contactless card, f u hsbc!), but other than that using an iPad air 2 daily, and now a n6p, i prefer android so much than iOS:)
These are definitely gonna be a winner of the Christmas morning, smartwatches are definitely in, Santa is bringing me a pebble , Apple have done this smartwatch very well . I really believe that smartwatches need bespoke systems like apple with their crown and extra button . In my opinion android where is not ergonomic enough to use . A priority for simplicity is at odds with ease and quickness of use . Personally I think smartwatches need as many capacitive buttons or sliders as possible to aid speed of use in navigation
Cold because it's not an iPhone....
In all seriousness, I'm on my fourth smartwatch (pebble, moto 360, sony sw3 and samsung gear s2) while we just got my wife an apple watch. I think the thing people struggle to justify is that owning one doesn't replace another gadget and it doesn't add any new functions. That doesn't mean it's necessarily useless. Apps aren't particularly useful but the basic features of being able to quickly preview incoming emails, messages and calls and know if they deserve your immediate attention is not an insignificant convenience.
About the battery life, as long as it lasts a day then it really doesn't matter. I didn't think my pebble which lasted a week was significantly more useful in that regard than my moto 360 which I charged every night. I'm taking the watch off anyway so the two seconds it takes to put it onto a dock doesn't make me boil with rage. Apple watch has a nightstand mode which means you can rid of any bedside clock you may still have.

Think it's a special running up to Christmas, think you can do Currys and a couple of others too!
I have only ever owned 1 apple product, the ipod classic which I still use. Every other device I have owned has been Android. This is the best deal you can get Apple Watch on so it's a hot deal whether you like the brand or not! The stupidity of some comments on here are ridiculous... Voted hot OP.
I love mine... haven't regretted the purchase once. Have some heat.
still unsure with this... I may just wait for the next gen. It's a good deal though!!

All those features you mentioned aren't guaranteed but I agree there is a rumored gen 2 out early next year, which will no doubt be better.
