Cheapest I've seen this game for, seems to be well regarded by a lot of people/reviewers in the board gaming circle. No doubt it will go cold as all modern board game deals seem to these days, but might be useful to someone. Write-up on the store page follows:

Race to find the truth in the mysterious world of Watson & Holmes, a game of deduction and intrigue for two to seven players. Each aspiring detective will work alongside Sherlock Holmes in order to solve a series of mysterious cases. By visiting locations, speaking with witnesses, and deciphering clues, you will come to your own conclusions about the investigation, independent of your fellow detectives. Once you believe you have all the facts, you must present your findings to the brilliant Holmes and the good Dr. Watson. Answering every question correctly will lead you to victory, though one misstep and you will be forced to retire from the case, leaving the remaining investigators to accurately interpret the clues before it's too late.

Is it as good as Consulting Detective?

It depends what you're after, I personally prefer Consulting Detective, but the two games are fairly different in the way they are played. Watson and Holmes is a competitive game where you move around locations each round, but if you want to go to a location someone else wants to go to you both have to bid limited resources to go there as only one person can be at a location a round. You can also block a location to others to stop them getting the information contained there and help you solve the case first. Both games do share the fact each case is effectively one play only as after that you know the solution.

If you think you would like a competitive version of CD though then there is no reason you wouldn't like both.
