These are my favourite drives for shucking.

WD 10TB run cooler than WD 8TB and WD 12TB.

WD Elements are easier to open than WD My Book drives.

I hope this helps.
Bought my 8Tb one for £15/Tb this one is too expensive for my tastes

That's interesting because I have two Raid 6 set-up; one with six 10TB and one with 12TB and the 12TB run about 7ºC warm warmer.

May be they have different power mode setting.

I will check this out.

Thank you JRW.

It is a decent price for 10TB.
But just in case you could play a waiting Game. 12TB was £154.99 on January 2, 2020. Wait and grab it when this come back again

You must have some stellar cooling of live somewhere really cold if they are running below ambient

Mine in a Gen8 are running on average 31C with room temp of 18C

Think he meant 7° Warmer.
There are better deals regularly on Amazon if you can bear to wait. I've bought at £155 for 10TB several times now, and paid £180 for 12TB. Good price none-the-less.

The 12TB (£154.99) only seem to stay in stock on Amazon for 30-60mins so you have to be lucky with your timing.

I use <£15/TB as the point when to buy these 10-14TB WD drives

This is not a great price, but if you need it right now then it’s probably the current cheapest
